LOH Community Contest #200 ~ Failure is Inevitable

I am so thrilled to be a part of this community and being a part of the 200th weekly contest celebration. Today I will be answering to the second question that says;

How do you handle failure, and what do you learn from it?

IMG_20240816_064031.jpg

Nobody prays to fail, the absolute truth is, that nobody wants to fail, everyone wants to be on the winning side, and everyone wishes and prays for success to happen in every one of their life endeavors but fortunately or unfortunately, life consists of both profit and loss as much as success and failure so nobody can run away from failure.

Life is about a little here and a little there, it's never always roses, and it's never always beautiful in all ramifications no matter how much we pray and wish for it but shouldn't deter anyone from working hard and exploring because it helps one know their real self and no matter how many times one fails or encounter failure, giving up isn't and should never be an option.

Even the motivational speakers who urge us to start with anything or start small can attest that it is not all about starting with anything, it is more about knowing the ropes of the, engaging in it effectively and consistently, and understanding that in that "starting small" there is going to be either a profit or a loss, surely we will encounter both. Every business tends to encounter losses and profit, success and failure, more reasons we are always taught or pre-informed before we get into it.

Regardless, what matters most is how we manage our losses when they happen because they are going to happen as failure is part of life experiences. Most times, life doesn't always work like we wished or prayed for because of others. It would be wrong to pray for our success only and not about others even if we so much want to succeed.

I have had my share of failures, from business to relationships, to friendships, to even course failure, I am not perfect and I have got my flaws, so yeah, I have had a failure here and there, I have made plans, set things in order and at the end of the day, my plan never materialized, not because I didn't put in the effort, maybe I didn't put in enough effort needed to make the plan materialize but because most times failure is inevitable but the best thing we can do for ourselves when we fail is to know "Why we failed" and "Work on it, to succeed in our next planning"

Just before the school session was over, which must have been after we wrote our papers, a particular course result was downloaded into our portal, and at the sight of my CGPA, I knew the score I had for that particular course was the reason why my CGPA dropped tremendously. To be honest, I was angry at myself for not putting in effort as I did for the other courses, yeah, I understood that during that particular exam, I had a breakdown and could not concentrate but then again, I knew I could have done better and immediately made a promise to do better in the coming session.

So, when I see my failure, I don't abortion blame someone, I don't look for someone to blame for my failure, I make a mental note of where I screwed up, when I screwed up, and how I screwed up, I accept and take responsibility for whatever I did to have failed.

This helps me handle my failure better and more maturely instead of looking for who was at fault or blaming someone for what they did not do and could have done. It helps me think vastly and helps me not beat myself up for too long because I was willing to see and accept where I faulted to have resulted in my failure.

I take a break (mentally, physically, emotionally, and psychologically) before I head back to my drawing board. to see how I can adjust and make corrections where necessary. Taking a break doesn't mean you are giving up, it doesn't mean you accept defeat, it means you need to rest and gather enough energy for the next journey.

As much as I want to make amends and correct my mistakes, it would be better to do that when my head is cool and relaxed because it helps me think better and clearer. I also believe it depends on individual personality, while some people want to start immediately after they realize where they are faulted, I want to take a break first and start when I am in the right frame of mind, relaxed and strong enough. Not many people can work under pressure or hang on for too long under stress.

This is my entry to Ladies of Hive Community Contest #200

Indeed failure is inevitable and a part of life we'll definitely experience at one point in time or another.

Knowing how to handle it is the ultimate path to winning, because failure when we take it as a learning phrase can help us get better.

It’s so nice that when you see failure, you don’t apportion blame for someone or even yourself but you find out where exactly you went wrong just so you can correct your mistakes.

nobody wants to fail

Absolutely, nobody wants to be on that side but like you said, some situations and circumstances are avoidable. That's why we need to learn and accept the failure and move on in life.

I take a break (mentally, physically, emotionally, and psychologically) before I head back to my drawing board.

I really liked your perspective and how you have dealt with the situation so far. It's really important to take time to reflect on the failure and take lessons before moving forward. "Blame" doesn't work instead acceptance is important.

Thanks for sharing important notes with us and good luck...

So true.

The part about taking a break and starting again when ready is a huge lesson for me, thank you so much for sharing.
