Dennis knew that Charles was an indoor person and had no plan to go out during the festive period, so he decided to invade his privacy.

He goes ahead to lie to their mutual friends that Frank is inviting them all to his house for a party.

Being a friend means understanding the person that you are with. Not trying to shove your style down the person's throat.
