Thank God for the gift of life as it's a new year to remember the importance of resilience, hope and appreciate every single bit life has to offer.

2023 was filled with a lot of lessons for me both the good and bad. I will always cherish every moment of it all because we can't have it back, we can only work on the present and future to get better.

All thanks to @merit.ahama for the nice topic that even makes me to reflect more on the lessons and knowledge I have gained the past year, also trying to make new year resolution, the things I planned to achieve that I couldn't, I know soon I will achieve it

As we all know cooking delicacies is part of what makes festive seasons sweet and sharing with neighbours too. Every year all the female gather together to cook (including my brother's wife) this is after the male have helped us to slaughter the goat. This year I was the only one that came home and it was all on me and then firewood is the best option. Cooking with firewood has been an old tradition especially when the food will take time and as they say it adds a unique flavour to food and also reduces cost with the high price in gas now, other means are needed to get our food cooked.

Had to do everything on my own, the boiling, frying of meat; through this I learnt independence and patience, I felt helpful as to doing something for my family and loved ones.

The jollof rice turnes out nice, it gave me this unexplainable joy, the fact that I can control every of the recipe to get a certain taste

This made me realize I could spend less money in cooking for myself and having to use my own recipe, this is much more healthier compared to if I have to go out and buy jollof rice, there are some days that I do crave for this and just had to buy,having the knowledge now that I could do this often for myself and even improve my skills.

I learnt to always challenge myself to do things I never thought I could do and I will apply this in other aspects of my life.
