Ladies of Hive Contest #171: Female empowerment and advice for young women [ES/EN]

¡Hola queridas Damas de Hive! Espero que se encuentren todas muy bien. Hoy me uno a la iniciativa de la semana por invitación de mi amiga @naath. El empoderamiento femenino siempre es puesto bajo la lupa por una u otra razón, así que me parece muy bien que se trate este tema aquí para reflexionar sobre ello.

¿Qué significa el Empoderamiento de las Mujeres para ti y cuáles son algunas de tus experiencias personales que te motivaron a pensar/preocuparte por el empoderamiento de las mujeres?

El empoderamiento femenino es tener la libertad para elegir qué hacer con tu vida, es curioso que se tenga que decir, ya que todos somos personas que debemos poder tener ese derecho de elección. Pero siempre se le pone el foco a la mujer, ya que somos las que más sufrimos de injusticias a lo largo de la historia de la humanidad: se nos negaron derechos, se nos asignaban roles específicos, se nos decía cómo comportarnos, cómo vestir, se nos prohibía estudiar. Nuestro papel estaba relegado a ser esposas y madres y las que se salían de esas normas eran mal vistas por la sociedad. Sin embargo, hoy en día es algo que está cambiando, por suerte, las mujeres fuimos peleando por tener los mismos derechos que cualquiera y si bien todavía hay mucho por trabajar y por seguir luchando, el camino se igualó bastante.

Veo el empoderarse como un despertar, el darte cuenta que sos digna de ir a perseguir tus metas y deseos, que no somos menos que nadie y que nos merecemos todo lo bueno que tenga esta vida por ofrecernos. Acá también entra el hecho de que somos dueñas de nosotras mismas, es nuestro cuerpo y nuestra decisión, es nuestra vida y nadie debería obligarnos a algo que no queramos. El empoderarse es ganar fortaleza ante la vida, es crecer como mujer en la sociedad, es no dejarte pisotear, ni que te hagan sentir menos. El estar empoderadas nos hace sentir que podemos atravesar todos los obstáculos que se nos vengan encima y eso es maravilloso. Agradezco cada día por los ejemplos de mujeres que marcaron mi camino y el de todas para que podamos seguir avanzando, y que las generaciones futuras nos vean a nosotras como su ejemplo también.

¿Qué te gustaría decirles a las jóvenes de hoy, qué consejo les darías?

Que no quemen etapas, que vivan de acuerdo a sus edades, que sueñen en grande y que luchen por lo que quieren. Les diría que no se dejen maltratar por nadie, ni que las hagan sentir menos porque no es así. Que se apoyen unas a otras cuando sea necesario y que vivan la vida lo mejor posible. Ustedes pueden ser lo que quieran ser, pero no sé castiguen si todavía no saben muy bien qué rumbo tomar, cada uno de nosotros tiene sus tiempos, vamos a nuestro propio ritmo. Así que no tiene sentido compararse, les aseguro que en algún momento las ideas se aclaran y el camino se ilumina. Y si ya saben lo que quieren para su vida, tómenlo con fuerza y luchen cada día para alcanzarlo.

Hello dear Ladies of Hive! I hope you are all feeling great. Today I am joining the initiative of the week at the invitation of my friend @naath. Female empowerment is always put under the spotlight for one reason or another, so I think it's great to address this topic here to reflect on it.

What does Women Empowerment mean to you and what are some of your personal experiences that motivated you to think/care about women’s empowerment?

Female empowerment is having the freedom to choose what to do with your life, it is curious that it has to be said, since we are all people who should be able to have that right of choice. But the focus is always put on women, since we are the ones who have suffered the most injustices throughout the history of mankind: we were denied rights, we were assigned specific roles, we were told how to behave, how to dress, we were forbidden to study. Our role was relegated to being wives and mothers, and those who broke those rules were frowned upon by society. Fortunately, we women have been fighting to have the same rights as everyone else, and although there is still a lot of work to be done and a lot of fighting to be done, the road has become more equal.

I see empowerment as an awakening, realizing that you are worthy of pursuing your goals and desires, that we are not less than anyone else and that we deserve everything good this life has to offer. Here also enters the fact that we are masters of ourselves, it is our body and our decision, it is our life and no one should force us to something we do not want. To be empowered is to gain strength in the face of life, it is to grow as a woman in society, it is to not let yourself be trampled on, or be made to feel less. Being empowered makes us feel that we can go through all the obstacles that come our way and that is wonderful. I am thankful every day for the examples of women who have marked my path and that of all of us so that we can continue to move forward, and that future generations will see us as their example as well.

What would you like to say to young women today, what advice would you give them?

I would tell them not to burn stages, to live according to their ages, to dream big and fight for what they want. I would tell them not to let anyone mistreat them or make them feel less because that is not the case. Support each other when necessary and live life to the best of your ability. You can be whatever you want to be, but don't beat yourself up if you still don't know what direction to take, each one of us has our own time, we go at our own pace. So there is no point in comparing yourselves, I assure you that at some point the ideas will become clearer and the path will be illuminated. And if you already know what you want for your life, take it with strength and fight every day to achieve it.
