🌼 Ladies of Hive Contest #180: Cultivate our garden and second-hand shopping [ES/EN]

¡Hola queridas Damas de Hive! Espero que se encuentren todas muy bien. Hoy me pasó por acá para participar de las preguntas de la semana, en esta ocasión con temas relacionados a la jardinería y compras de segunda mano. Bueno, empecemos.

Recientemente renové un viejo interés por la jardinería como aficionado al cultivo de flores, frutas y verduras fuera de mi casa. Puede que no ahorre mucho en mis gastos de comida, pero esto es más para satisfacción personal y para volver a aprender viejas habilidades. ¿Tienes un jardín? ¿O desearías tener uno? ¿Qué te gustaría cultivar en tu pequeño paraíso?

A mí me gustan mucho las plantas y sus flores perfumadas, en mi casa solo hay patio de cemento por lo que las tengo en macetas y las voy podando o trasplantando según lo que requieran. Hace poco estuve haciendo una limpieza de plantas y todavía me falta bastante, pero de a poco va quedando más prolijo.

La verdad es que conectarme con la naturaleza de esta manera me renueva la energía, es curioso, pero trato de conectar con la planta y lo que necesita, siento que cada una es diferente y por eso no suelo seguir las normas de riego o sol porque depende de muchos factores, lo principal es ver cómo responde cada una de ellas a mi cuidado para saber si voy bien.

Por el momento tengo más plantas de hojas, cactus y suculentas, que de flores. También pase por una etapa de querer cultivar verduras, tenía una planta de tomates y otra de ajíes que duraron su ciclo y después se marchitaron. Tengo un limonero en maceta que ya tiene como 25 años y sí nos dio algunos limones, aunque siempre me da algo de pena porque siento que debería estar en un suelo de tierra, incluso mi papá planto semillas de mandarina en una maceta y el plantín está creciendo muy bien, esos son mis únicos árboles frutales.

Me encantaría poder tener un jardín de tierra, con su pasto y espacio para plantar estos árboles frutales, pero por el momento creo que me manejo muy bien con las macetas. Cada nueva planta que llega es como una desconocida que tengo que aprender sus gustos y ayudarla a adaptarse a su nuevo ambiente. En estos momentos somos más plantas que personas en esta casa, pero bueno, traen color y alegría al hogar.

¿Te gusta hacer compras de segunda mano? Comprar ropa usada y artículos útiles para el hogar es una forma práctica, económica y respetuosa con el medio ambiente de vestirse a sí mismo y a su hogar. Y de vez en cuando haces ese “hallazgo” perfecto. Comparte con nosotros ese tesoro encontrado y ¿por qué fue perfecto?

Me encanta la compra de segunda mano de lo que sea, la ropa mientras esté bien cuidada sirve siempre. Somos de esas familias que suele recibir ropa usada o nosotros mismos vamos pasando la ropa que ya no usamos para que sigan su curso. Se pueden encontrar muchas cosas interesantes en tiendas de segunda mano y ferias americanas. Ahora hace mucho que no voy a una, pero llegué hasta comprar camperas y suéteres a buen precio. Lo mismo con los libros, están muy caros comprarlos nuevos, así que hay que recurrir a los usados y de paso siguen en circulación.

Con respecto a las cosas del hogar, hemos conseguido sillas y una mesa a mitad de precio por ser de segunda mano. Tienen algunos detalles, pero es lo de menos mientras se puedan utilizar y la verdad es que hay que aprovechar cada oportunidad. Como siempre digo, la basura de unos es el tesoro de otros.

Hello dear Ladies of Hive! I hope you are all doing well. I stopped by today to participate in this week's questions of the week, this time with topics related to gardening and thrift shopping. Well, let's get started.

I’ve recently renewed an old interest in hobby gardening in growing flowers, fruit, and vegetables outside my home. I may not save much out of my food expenses, but this is more for personal satisfaction as well as relearning old skills. Do you have a garden? Or wish you had one? What would you like to grow in your own little paradise?

I really like plants and their fragrant flowers, in my house there is only a cement patio so I have them in pots and I prune or transplant them according to what they need. Recently I was doing a cleaning of plants and I still have a long way to go, but little by little it is getting neater.

The truth is that connecting with nature in this way renews my energy, it is curious, but I try to connect with the plant and what it needs, I feel that each one is different and that is why I do not usually follow the rules of irrigation or sun because it depends on many factors, the main thing is to see how each one of them responds to my care to know if I am doing well.

At the moment I have more leafy plants, cactus and succulents, than flowers. I also went through a stage of wanting to grow vegetables, I had a tomato plant and a chili bell pepper plant that lasted their cycle and then withered. I have a lemon tree in a pot that is about 25 years old and it did give us some lemons, although I always feel a little sorry for it because I feel it should be in a soil, even my dad planted tangerine seeds in a pot and the seedling is growing very well, those are my only fruit trees.

I would love to be able to have an earth garden, with its grass and space to plant these fruit trees, but for the moment I think I manage very well with pots. Each new plant that arrives is like a stranger that I have to learn its tastes and help it adapt to its new environment. Right now there are more plants than people in this house, but hey, they bring color and joy to the home.

Do you like to Thrift shop? Shopping for used clothes and useful household items are a practical, economical, and earth friendly way to outfit yourself and home. And once in a while you make that perfect ‘find.’ Share with us that found treasure and why was it perfect?

I love buying second hand clothes, as long as they are well cared for, they are always useful. We are one of those families that usually receive used clothes or we ourselves pass on the clothes we no longer wear so that they can continue their course. You can find many interesting things in second hand stores and American fairs. It's been a long time since I've been to one, but I even bought jackets and sweaters at a good price. The same with books, they are very expensive to buy new, so you have to resort to the used ones and by the way they are still in circulation.

With regard to the household items, we got chairs and a table at half price for being second hand. They have some details, but it is the least important thing as long as they can be used and the truth is that you have to take advantage of every opportunity. As I always say, some people's trash is other people's treasure.
