[ESP/ENG] Filmes que inspiran 2da edición / El Club de los Poetas Muertos

En las bases de esta iniciativa el plazo de admisión era hasta el día 24, pero, por problemas personales y técnicos, me fue imposible escribir esta publicación. En estos momentos puedo escribir luego de solucionada la problemática de la máquina.

Aclarado lo anterior, aquí dejo mi participación en esta iniciativa que es una de las que más me ha apasionado.

La película que me ha inspirado y mucho tiene que ver con la profesión que realicé durante toda mi vida o una parte importante de ella, en la que fui profesora de Español-Literatura.

La película en cuestión es “El Club de los Poetas Muertos”.

Esa película se estrenó en 1989, cuando yo tenía 26 años y, acababa de graduarme en la universidad como licenciada en Educación, en la especialidad antes mencionada.

La trama de la película se desarrolla en un centro interno para varones. En este centro la disciplina era muy dura y el reglamento de comportamiento muy estricto.

Pero, lo que verdaderamente me cautivó fue los métodos de un profesor llamado John Keating, quien les pide a sus estudiantes que sean independientes, piensen por sí mismos, arriben a conclusiones y se cuestionen las normas que tratan de imponer.

La película no termina como quisiéramos, pero nos deja enseñanzas y valores que, en mi caso, se convirtieron en mi manera de concebir la docencia y parte de mi existencia.

Por ejemplo:

En la película se aprecia cómo Keating se aleja de los cánones establecidos y promueven entre sus estudiantes la idea de que cada quien es un ser único y debe seguir sus propias convicciones, ideas y criterios y no seguir al pie de la letra lo que dicen los demás.

En la película se resalta lo necesario que es cuestionar los criterios dogmáticos y fomenta el pensamiento crítico y la reflexión personal. Esta idea se ve perfectamente, cuando el profesor les pide romper un documento donde están normas preestablecidas.

Un elemento clave es cómo se vive la belleza de la poesía y cómo los estudiantes, por intermedio de ella, pueden apreciar la belleza del lenguaje, relacionarse con los demás, expresar sus emociones y ver lo bello de la poesía.

El profesor insiste en la importancia de vivir el presente y aprovechar las oportunidades que la vida nos pone delante de nosotros.

Pero, el elemento que más me gustó, o para no ser absoluta, de los que más me gustó, fue cómo el profesor con sus métodos logró fomentar relaciones de amistad y ayuda mutua entre los estudiantes y cómo los convocó a hacer de estos valores parte importante de cada una de sus vidas.

Esta película influyó en mi crecimiento personal y humano porque me permitió ver la necesidad de luchar por mis sueños, ser auténtica. A través de la película pude buscar puntos en común y experimentar con métodos reflexivos que ayudaron a mis estudiantes a promover valores de independencia, seguridad, solidaridad, amistad y búsqueda de la felicidad por ellos mismos.

Considero que, es una película que debe ser vista por todos los docentes porque es una obra que va más allá de una generación y nos ofrece varias lecciones que pueden ser aplicadas en nuestras vidas. Incluso, la obra sirve como un excelente material para la relación que pueden establecer los padres y los hijos.

El otro elemento importante es que nos invita a reflexionar sobre los métodos existentes en el sistema educativo y cómo un profesor con métodos como los que aplica el protagonista puede influir en el proceso creativo y en el desarrollo de la personalidad de sus estudiantes.

Having clarified the above, here is my participation in this initiative, which is one of the ones I have been most passionate about.

The movie that has inspired me has a lot to do with the profession that I have carried out during all my life or an important part of it, in which I was a Spanish-Literature teacher.

That film was released in 1989, when I was 26 years old and had just graduated from college with a degree in Education, in the aforementioned specialty.

The plot of the movie takes place in a boarding school for boys. In this center, discipline was very harsh and the rules of behavior very strict.

But, what really captivated me was the methods of a teacher named John Keating, who asks his students to be independent, to think for themselves, to reach conclusions and to question the rules they are trying to impose.

The film does not end as we would like, but it leaves us with teachings and values that, in my case, became my way of conceiving teaching and part of my existence.

For example:

The film shows how Keating moves away from the established canons and promotes among his students the idea that everyone is unique and should follow their own convictions, ideas and criteria and not follow to the letter what others say.

The film highlights the need to question dogmatic criteria and encourages critical thinking and personal reflection. This idea is perfectly seen when the teacher asks them to tear up a document containing pre-established rules.

A key element is how the beauty of poetry is experienced and how students, through it, can appreciate the beauty of language, relate to others, express their emotions and see the beauty of poetry.

The teacher stresses the importance of living in the present and taking advantage of the opportunities that life puts in front of us.

But, the element that I liked the most, or not to be absolute, one of the elements that I liked the most, was how the teacher with his methods managed to foster relationships of friendship and mutual help among the students and how he called on them to make these values an important part of each of their lives.

This film influenced my personal and human growth because it allowed me to see the need to fight for my dreams, to be authentic. Through the film I was able to find common ground and experiment with reflective methods that helped my students to promote values of independence, security, solidarity, friendship and the pursuit of happiness for themselves.

I consider that, it is a film that should be seen by all teachers because it is a work that goes beyond a generation and offers us several lessons that can be applied in our lives. It even serves as excellent material for the relationship that parents and children can establish.

The other important element is that it invites us to reflect on the existing methods in the educational system and how a teacher with methods such as those applied by the protagonist can influence the creative process and the personality development of his students.
