A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words: Boris' difficult life (ENG-ESP)

The dark-winged white pelican faces a great challenge. I feel it will be difficult for him to solve his dilemma.

Boris was at a great crossroads, wondering whether he should emigrate or not. His mind flew to one place: food, because it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to find a banquet worthy of his palate.

«Where have the fish gone?» he wondered, gazing longingly at the sea.

Remembering the days when there were plenty of fish, Boris came to the conclusion that he had to act. His stomach was roaring like a mini-trumpet, so hungry he could not go on.

Suddenly, he spotted a playful little fish, diving into the water.

—Juju! —exclaimed the little fish, pirouetting and splashing around as if there was no danger in the world.

Boris couldn't help but stare at it, with the expression of a dieting predator who has just discovered free food.

«Now we're talking!» said the pelican to himself, thinking about taking the big stride of his life. However, just as he was about to take the plunge, the minnow disappeared as if by magic.

«Where is it?» Boris mumbled incredulously.

What a complicated life for a waterfowl! Then, the fry reappeared right in front of him.

Boris silently decided to become a statue on the rock he was standing on, to finally catch his tiny prey, but at that moment, another pelican appeared and took the meal. Boris' astonishment was so great that he continued to stand motionless on the rock, staring blankly.

«What now?» he asked himself, craning his neck to one side, as if hoping to find some answer. He determined that, since things would continue as they were, it would be best to emigrate so as not to have to deal with so much competition.

El pelícano blanco de alas oscuras enfrenta un gran desafío. Siento que le será difícil resolver su dilema.

Boris se encontraba en una gran encrucijada, pensando si debía emigrar o no. Su mente volaba a un solo lugar: la comida, porque cada vez le era más difícil encontrar un banquete digno de su paladar.

«¿A dónde se han ido los peces?» se preguntaba, mirando el mar con añoranza.

Al recordar los días en que había muchos peces, Boris llegó a la conclusión de que debía actuar. Su estómago rugía como una mini-trompeta, por tanto, con hambre no podía seguir.

De repente, avistó un pececito juguetón, zambulléndose en el agua.

—¡Juju!— exclamó el pequeño pez haciendo piruetas y chapoteando como si no hubiera peligro en el mundo.

Boris no pudo evitar mirarlo, con la expresión de un depredador a dieta que acaba de descubrir comida gratis.

«¡Ahora sí!» se dijo el pelícano, pensando en dar la gran zancada de su vida. Sin embargo, justo cuando estaba a punto de lanzarse, el pececillo desapareció como por arte de magia.

«¿Dónde está?» masculló Boris con incredulidad.

¡Qué vida tan complicada la de un ave acuática! Entonces, el alevín reapareció justo delante de él.

Boris, silencioso, decidió convertirse en estatua sobre la roca en la que estaba, para finalmente atrapar a su diminuta presa, pero en ese momento, apareció otro pelícano y se llevó la comida. El asombro de Boris fue tan grande que continuó inmóvil sobre la roca, con la mirada perdida.

«¿Ahora qué?» se preguntó, torciendo el cuello hacia un lado, como si esperara encontrar alguna respuesta. Determinó que, como las cosas seguirían así, lo mejor sería emigrar para no lidiar con tanta competencia.
