It was two weeks after I graduated from high school, I visited my friend and on my way coming back I saw a vacant post that required the need of a customer service representative, I copied the number on the post and immediately I got home I called the number and the person directed me on how to go about the application.

She asked me to write an application letter and submit it to the mall the following day, This is one of the biggest malls in the city, the owner just opened the mall and she needs workers to work with her.

I did as I was instructed, I wrote the application letter that night and went to submit it the following day, I met the owner of the mall but I never knew she was the owner then, She asked me some questions which I answered and we departed that day.

After a week, I got a call from the mall and asked me for an interview two days later, I was happy and I immediately ironed my clothes and practiced some possible questions that may be asked, I could not sleep at night, I was busy dressing my myself, changing clothes in other to know the one that will fit for the interview, I changed more than five clothes, checking my flat shoes and cleaning them.

The day came, I woke up as early as possible, My siblings were making jest of me calling me the working class woman, I was looking sharp and radiant and left home for the interview, I was asked a series of questions, I know I am not qualified for the job education-wise but my friendly nature paved way for me

I couldn't answer all the questions but my smile and attractive Nature attracted the interviewer, She said This is what we need, someone who is calm and welcoming and that makes you qualified for the job.

I was given the job but on a month's trial and training, I was trained on how to talk to customers on the phone, and how to attend to their needs and review their complaints, it was an easy peasy for me when I started the job fully.

I was given a mobile phone, and I have my corner where I attend to customers who have complained about our service or anyone who needs home delivery, and that was all I do, the pay was much okay for me at that time, and the mall was two streets away from my street so I do not need transport, it was so easy for me coupled with the nice people I worked with.

I was dedicated to my job and always came early to work, My boss was so nice to us and always provided lunch for all the staff, I have never seen anyone as nice as that woman.

I decided to work for a year and gather funds to go to school without stressing my parents, after a year I wrote an entrance exam into the university and was given admission that year, I told my boss about it, and she was happy and the other side she was sad, she doesn't want me to leave but I must progress no matter what I had to leave.

When I was preparing to leave for school, she called me and gave me my full month's salary and handled another envelope to me separately, she said I used this and support you, I was extremely happy that day, she ordered me to pick all the provisions I will be needing without paying a dime. This woman was generous not to me alone but to all her staff.

After some months, I saw her call and she said customers had been disturbing her about my whereabouts, and she had been telling them I gained admission, She even said some collected my number in other to reach me, and some of the staff spoke to me and told me they missed me and my impact was felt in the mall, my boss told me that anytime I am in town I should always visit the mall.

Moral lesson

Always make a good impact anywhere you are, and let people feel your good impact when you are no longer with them, I created a conducive environment between my boss, staff, and I.
