The Day I Laughed at Myself #189

One of the funniest things in life is that sometimes when we get used to a particular routine, we start to follow it without even thinking or unconsciously. Have you ever noticed that? Thanks to @irenenavarroart for reminding me of this memorable day. When I went to church on a wrong day.

At my place of worship, we have services on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I always make sure to attend the all fellowship days, especially the Sunday service is never a miss for me.

One Tuesday evening, after a long day at work, I decided to take a nap to recharge. Since I needed to pick up my kids from school, I had come home early. Little did I know, this nap led to a remarkable sleep which led to one of the funniest moments of my life.

Have you ever slept and woken up completely disoriented? That’s exactly what happened to me. When I woke up that evening, I thought it was Wednesday and hence I should be in the church few minutes time was my thought. My church is usually so lively that you can hear the music from a distance when you just at the entrance junction.

As soon as I woke up, I was convinced it was Wednesday. I quickly took a bath, left the kids with my sister, and hurried to church. But as I got closer, there was no sound. My heart started to race. "Have they finished the service already?" I wondered. It was supposed to start at 6:00 PM and end at 7:40 PM. I checked the time, it was 3 minutes to 6:00pm, and still, nothing was happening.

All sorts of thoughts flooded my mind. Did the rapture happen and I got left behind? But then I thought, "No, my innocent kids would have been taken too."

Have you ever had a moment where your mind just runs wild with thoughts?

When I reached the gate, I decided to ask the gateman why the church was so quiet if there was no meeting today. He asked if I was there to see the pastor. I said no, I came for the midweek service. He looked at me, puzzled, and said, "The midweek service is tomorrow. Why are you asking like you're new here?" That’s when I checked my phone and realized it was Tuesday and not Wednesday as I thought. Everyone around laughed, and although I felt a bit embarrassed, I couldn’t help but laugh with them.

Why did I laugh? Because I had rushed through everything, genuinely believing everyone had been raptured except me. I always paid close attention when the pastor mentioned the rapture in his sermons. Now, every time I remember this, it makes me chuckle. I didn’t even know how to tell my kids the story when I got home.

Thanks for reading about the funniest day of my life. I hope it brought a smile to your face.
Have a wonderful week!

I think something like that has happened to me before but I don’t remember what it was. I think I went to school on a holiday and Waited so long but nobody came and then I went home 🤣

That very funny dear. They use to say then that if someone happens to find herself in that condition a pet would come to the class and handle lessons for that day. thanks for reading dear!

In my own case, I woke up and was greeting everyone "good morning"(to which they, ending my state, replied. I also prepared for school. Thankfully, they did not let me make that journey. It was just early evening and they laughed at me so much.

This reminded me of my ordeal with my mum. We were an hour early because of our bad wall clock and thought we were late. Mass for 6 am and we were there by 5 am wondering why everywhere was extra quiet. We stood at the gate and laughed at ourselves for a while before settling down to wait. Rapture😅

This definitely has happened to me and even when I kept correcting myself that it was Tuesday, somehow I kept feeling that the day was Wednesday.

The last bit about rapture cracked me up!

I can fully understand the predicament you imagined yourself to be in, as a Believer the thought would be alarming being left behind. It is funny in a sense, but don't let your guard down as these days are wicked, watch for the signs, and keep the faith. Finish the race as the Apostle Paul did.
