Three Twice Blessed Beers - A Lager, Hazy IPA and a Stout for #BeerSaturday
It seems that life is heading its own pace. It does not matter how hard we try to slow down, life itself is speeding up. Either that, or we are sleeping more (and hence having fewer time) to cope with all of the extra work we are having these days.
But there is one thing that is never a problem: There will always be good beer to enjoy along the way.
The Saggy Stone brewing company owns an incredible brewery who brews so much beer for different breweries. Twice Blessed Brewing Co is one such beer who does not have their own brewery but relies on in this case Saggy Stone to brew they beers for them.
And, I have to admit, the Twice Blessed Hazy Session IPA is one of my favorite beers now - even though their ABV is a bit low (only 3.8%).
But let me get ot the tasting notes for these incredible beers!
Without further ado.
Cold Brewed Lager
This is one of the lagers in South Africa which I know that dry hop their lager. And wow, it was a fruity-zesty lager with immediate hops as noted on the lable.
The taste is so refreshing and almost full bodied in a lager way but you get the hoppiness, almost no malt.
The beer was incredibly carbonated, evident from photographs - the beer did not want to pour well.
It was so refreshing with a braai.
I loved the hazy look for a lager but this was an awesome beer to start with.
Juicy Session IPA
This has become my new favorite beer, I would argue. Except for the low ABV, there is nothing I do not like about this beer.
It is very hazy; incredibly fruity, with passion fruit or litchi coming through very strong. But as it warmed up also strong grapefruit. It was very zesty, very fruity taste.
It was an incredible full bodied beer and just very nice overall. If it only had some more alcohol in it, this would have been best beer I have drunk.
Java Coffee Stout
This was just as good a beer. Why they made this beer 6% ABV and not the Hazy IPA goes beyond me (maybe because it was a session IPA... but alas).
It had a pronounced coffee bean smell on the nose and that first sip is pure coffee bean. Almost like eating coffee beans; nice and full bodied with 6% ABV. It was nice and bitter and not the typical stout everyone is brewing these days. It was also very hoppy to the taste - but not too bitter.
Postscriptum, or Some Day the Sun Will Shine Again
I did not even really have time to write this. But here I am drinking beer that I cannot really write about!
The end is in sight, but everything around me is falling apart in some degree - I am not writing (or reading) as much as I would have liked, and my engagement (here on Hive) has taken a serious nose dive.
So, I am actually just writing these words for myself to keep afloat in the ever deepening waters of academia that eats us early PhD students for breakfast.
Alas, cheers!
All of the writings and musings are my own, albeit written by a very tired philosopher. The photographs are also my own, taken with my Nikon D300.
Great to see this, and I am glad that you are still coping in a way. Keep it up and just keep on going, as there is love and peace on the horizon for you.
Have a Hive !BEER as it is also fruity with a great kick !LOL

Thank you so much! It was indeed nice and fruity, haha. I hope that all is well on that side as well! My overall level of energy is so low, what a vicious loop. But the love on the horizon is a plus.
So when will you see the beloved again?
I couldn't agree more on the latter sentence. But I also believe that sleep is a super power that removes all my stress away (or maybe majority of it).
Also, that fermented beer looks thirst quenching.
Thank you so much! Indeed. Sleep is just as good as the beer, haha.
Cheers! 🍻
The Twice Blessed series looks good!
Cheers! It was indeed.
