The subway platform around her was filled with people but Sarah checked her watch in a hurry while her heart pounded. No one waited on the empty platform although her train was supposed to arrive soon. The unsettling sensation started at the base of her neck when she became aware that she had already missed her train. She checked the schedule board yet no train was coming soon until twenty minutes passed. Panic bubbled inside her. Her professional success depended on reaching the meeting thus she had to get there. The emptiness of the platform dragged into minutes which felt like hours and made the sinking feeling inside her spiral downward. The vision of her boss’s unsatisfied expression floated through her mind. The heavy burden of the situation became too much for her chest but she managed a deep inhalation to stay strong despite it all.
