Lena walked through the empty house while the old wooden floor planks produced audible creaks. An intense mixture of dust filled the air while darkness elongated down every wall. The screeching hallway revealed itself to be dimly lit when she entered. She heard a deep groan speak from the blackness.

She froze. The ghastly sound came out deep and animal-like from the very walls of the mansion. She turned her gaze toward the direction from where the sound had originated while her heart raced wildly. A strong tremor rocked the far door which might have come from its barely stable hinges.

Drawing strength to herself she extended her hand toward the door knob. The deep groan which approached from within the darkness caused a vertigo of fright on her body. She swung the door wide but discovered complete blackness in front of her. Then, something moved.

She wasn’t alone.
