Splinterlands Art Contest 261 - SEA MONSTER FAN ART SCULPTURE [ENG-ESP]

Hello dear friends, I hope you are well, greetings to all those who make life in this beautiful community of so many creative minds. It is a pleasure for me to share with you my entry to the weekly Splinterlands art contest, I was almost 3 weeks without participating since where I live there were constant power and internet blackouts that prevented me from being up to date, only yesterday the light He was gone for 8 hours, really a nightmare, so I take the opportunity to bring my contribution. I have made a sculpture of the character Sea Moster, a very powerful fearsome sea serpent, it reminds me of Poseidon's snake in the Odyssey poem, I have made it with beer cans and glue, it measures 55 centimeters long by 15 centimeters high , it is the largest sculpture I have made so far, I hope you like it.

Hola queridos amigos, espero que se encuentren muy bien, saludos para todos aquellos que hacen vida en esta hermosa comunidad de tantas mentes creativas. Es un placer para mi compartir con ustedes mi entrada al concurso de arte semanal de Splinterlands, estuve casi 3 semanas sin participar ya que donde vivo hubo constantes apagones de luz e internet que me impedían poder estar al día, solo el día de ayer la luz se fue por 8 horas, realmente una pesadilla, así que aprovecho la oportunidad de poder traer mi aporte. He realizado una escultura del personaje Sea Moster, una temible serpiente marina muy poderosa, me recuerda a la serpiente de Poseidón en el poema de la Odisea, la he realizado con latas de cervezas y pegamento, mide 55 centímetros de largo por 15 centímetros de alto, es la escultura más grande que he realizado hasta ahora, espero les guste.

I chose the main cans that were blue in color, to bridge the gap with the original design of the snake, I used a total of 6 cans which I then cut and transformed into thin aluminum sheets. The next step was to cut small strips, the measurement was two centimeters wide by 9 centimeters high.

Escogí principal latas que tuviera color azul, para salvar distancias con el diseño original de la serpiente, utilicé un total de 6 latas las cuales luego corte y transformé en finas láminas de aluminio. El siguiente paso fue cortar pequeñas tiras, la medida fue de dos centímetros de ancho por 9 centímetros de alto.

After cutting the cans into small pieces, the task was to start making rings with the cans to make the entire body of the can, in total I cut and made the molds for 84 rings. It should be noted that the rings do not have the same size, but one is smaller than the other so that they can be inserted between them to join them and at the same time be able to give a curved shape to the body, since otherwise the shape of the body will remain like a simple cane.

Después de cortar las latas en pequeños retazos, la tarea fue comenzar a hacer anillos con las latas para hacer todo el cuerpo de la lata, en total corté e hice los moldes para 84 anillos. Cabe resaltar que los anillos no tienen la misma medida, sino que uno es más pequeño que el otro de manera que puedan ser introducidos entre ellos para unirlos y a su vez poder darle forma curva al cuerpo, ya que sino se hace la forma del cuerpo quedará como un simple bastón.

Well, I began the work of shaping the elongated body of the snake, and do you know what I discovered? which is very difficult, I thought it would be simple, but quite the opposite, somehow the aluminum rings fit me in a straight line, so I tried several times. Only by carefully analyzing how I could give it a curved shape, I discovered that if I joined them from a single end then I could do it, and that's how it was. One by one I placed the rings, they quickly wore out and I had to cut more.

Bueno, comencé el trabajo de darle forma al alargado cuerpo de la serpiente, y saben que descubrí? que es muy dificil, pensé que sería sencillo, pero todo lo contrario, de alguna forma los anillos de aluminio me quedaban en línea recta, así que varias veces hice el intento. Solo al analizar bien como podría darle forma curva, descubrí que si los unía desde un solo extremo entonces si podría hacerlo, y así fue. Uno a uno fuí colocando los anillos, que rápido se gastaron y tuve que cortar más.

With the rest of the rings that I cut, 16 in total, I finished shaping the snake, so it could hold up and at the same time I finished the tail, which I wanted to be very sharp, until that moment without the head the leather reached measurements of 51 centimeters.

Con el resto de anillos que corté, 16 en total termine de darle forma a la derpiente, así podría sostenerser y al mismo tiempo finalicé la cola, la cual quise que quedara bien afilada, hasta ese momento sin la cabeza el cueró alcanzaba unas medidas de 51 centímetros.

The next step was to create the head, for that I drew on a sheet of paper a template for the head of the sea monster, as it resembles a dragon, I made it with quite a few sharp teeth. I glued the template on an aluminum sheet and then little by little I cut out all the parts, after that I shaped it with a tweezer and then glued it. The last thing was to join the head with the rest of the body.

El siguiente paso fue crear la cabeza, para eso dibujé en una hoja de papel una plantilla para la cabeza del mostruo marino, como tiene un parecido a un dragón, lo hice con bastantes dientes afilados. Pegué la plantilla sobre una lámina de aluminio y luego poco a poco recorte todas las partes, después de eso fui dando forma con una pinza para despues pegar. Lo último fue unir la cabeza com el resto del cuerpo.

To finish, I also made a template to be able to remove the enormous crest-shaped fin that it has on its head and part of its neck. I made two parts like the faces of a coin joined together and looked for a can that had a similar color. I also made small pieces for the scales that protrude all along the body and at the end of the tail I also made fins of the same color as the head fin.

Para finalizar también hice una plantilla para poder sacar la enorme aleta en forma de cresta que tiene en la cabeza y parte del cuello, hice dos partes como las caras d euna moneda unidas entre ellas y busqué una lata que tuviera un color parecido. También hice pequeñas piezas para las escamas que sobre salen por todo lo lrgo del cuerpo y al final de la cola también aletas del mismo color de la aleta de la cabeza.

This is how the Sea Monster sculpture was finished, it is now part of my Splinterlands monster collection, it is already growing quite a bit and I was very delighted with this sea serpent, it looks so powerful, I was tempted to make it bigger. Así quedo finalizado la escultura de Sea Monster, ahora forma parte de mi colección de monstruos de Splinterlands ya está creciendo bastante y quede muy encantado con esta serpiente marina, luce tan poderosa, me veía tentado a hacerla más grande.
