This weeks theme for the show me a picture contest of feathered friends community is "Hungry Bird" and I immediately thought of this little bittern that I was able to take some pictures of in Vienna. I really managed to get the right moment when it cought a big fish and swallowed it down with ease and I was fascinated of it the moment I saw it so I have to post these pictures as an entry for this contest. When I took these pictures I already waited for hours that the bird shows up since it has a nice pond where it is hunting on the water lily plants. It is so light that it can run on the leafes of the plant and catch the fish that swim by on the water surface. So it is always a very nice thing to get some really nice pictures of the hunting activity of this bird.

I was really astouned how big of a fish it was able to swallow with ease. But see yourself -->
