Greetings fellow members, I hope you are doing very well. When I heard about this contest to make the background of these lovely characters I was very excited because I have been imagining for a long time the scenario in which these characters could be.

To make this background, I thought it would be best to start doing it with my hands and then digitize it, as it would look better if I did it this way. So I looked for my materials, a sheet of paper, pencil and pen.

Saludos compañeros, espero que estén muy bien. Cuando me enteré de este concurso para hacer el fondo de estos encantadores personajes me emocioné mucho porque he imaginado desde hace tiempo el escenario en el que estos personajes podrían estar.

Para hacer este fondo, pensé que lo mejor sería comenzar a hacerlo con mis manos y luego digitalizarlo, pues quedaría mejor si lo hacía así. Por eso busqué mis materiales, una hojas de papel, lápiz y lapicero.

The first thing I thought about was which creature to choose from the first 4 initial ones, to draw a background for it. I have done a couple of sculpts of these characters and the first one was the Fire Wolf, so based on this the choice was simple, Fire Wolf would be the one I would choose for this design.

That's how I started to do the initial sketch. I kept it simple, because my intention was to use it as a guide to know where I would place each element in the background.

Lo primero que me planté fue qué criatura elegir entre las primeras 4 iniciales, para dibujarle un fondo. He hecho un par esculturas de estos personajes y la primera fue el Fire Wolf, así que basándome en esto la elección fue sencilla, Fire Wolf sería el que elegiría para este diseño.

Así fue como comencé a hacer el boceto inicial. Lo hice sencillo, pues mi intención era que me sirviera de guía para saber dónde colocaría cada elemento del fondo.

With the character in place, I began to draw with my graphite pencil the place where the Firewolf is standing, along with the other rocks and mountains that will accompany it.

Con el personaje en su lugar, comencé a dibujar con mi lápiz de grafito el lugar en donde está se pie el Firewolf, junto con las otras rocas y montañas que lo acompañarán.

With a graphite pencil, the strokes and lines I made were not quite visible, so I went back to highlight everything with a pencil, so that's how my design was on paper to digitize it later.

Con lápiz de grafito no se veían del todo bien los trazos y líneas que hice, motivo por el cual volví a remarcar todo con un lapicero, así quedó mi diseño en papel para luego digitalizarlo.

So, I created my workspace in Medibang Paint Pro (the program I used), and made the outline of the sketch I had already made, which I digitized and used as a guide to create the scenario you see below:

Así pues, creé mi espacio de trabajo en Medibang Paint Pro (el programa que utilicé), e hice el delineado del boceto que ya había hecho, el cual digitalicé y sirvió de guía para crear el escenario que ven a continuación:

It is a dry, mountainous terrain, far from water and with the sun very close, as I imagine these creatures traveling in herds through lonely, hot, arid mountains, perhaps volcanic mountains, where the heat is their natural habitat.

That's why I chose this color palette for the background. Color palettes ranging from white to brown to yellow to red. This is the background I decided to use, with a sun shining there at the end, on the horizon:

Es un terreno montañoso, seco, alejado del agua y con el sol muy cerca, pues me imagino a estas criaturas viajando en manadas por solitarias montañas áridas y calientes, quizás montañas volcánicas, donde el calor sea su habitad natural.

Por eso elegí esta paleta de colores para el fondo. Paletas de colores que van desde el blanco hasta el marrón, pasando por el amarillo y el rojo. Este es el fondo que decidí utilizar, con un sol brillando allí al final, en el horizonte:

On top of this background I placed the outline that I digitized of the mountains, then I colored them and that's how it looked. I like it because some mountains look far away and the rocks in front create a depth effect, or at least that's what I wanted to try.

I liked how it looked, I felt satisfied with the design at this point, so I continued.

Encima de este fondo coloqué el delineado que digitalicé de las montañas, luego las coloreé y así iba quedando. Me gusta porque algunas montañas se ven lejanas y las rocas del frente crean un efecto de profundidad, o al menos eso fue lo que quise intentar.

Me gustó cómo se veía, me sentía satisfecho con el diseño en este punto, así que continué.

At this point it became necessary for me to place Fire Wolf in his place and draw the clouds that would adorn the sky and contrast with an intense and bright white.

Notice that I also drew clouds behind the mountain, denoting the height in which these creatures live, since they are on a par with the mountains.

En este punto se me hizo necesario colocar en su lugar a Fire Wolf y dibujar las nubes que adornarían el cielo y harían contraste con un blanco intenso y brillante.

Fíjense que también dibujé nubes detrás de la montaña, denotando la altura en la que viven estas criaturas, pues están a la par de las montañas.

The last thing I did was to continue adding shadows and highlights on the different lines I had of the mountains, to create a cool and very nice effect, which keeps the drawing from being flat and maintains depth.

Lo último que hice fue continuar agregando sombras y luces en las distintas líneas que tenía de las montañas, para crear un efecto genial y muy bonito, que evita que el dibujo sea plano y mantenga profundidad.

Finally I added a little more sky glow, blurring some lines on the edges of the mountains, to give the appearance that the clouds are covering the rocky area.

Finalmente agregué un poco más de brillo en el cielo, borrando algunas líneas en los bordes de las montañas, para dar la apariencia de que las nubes están cubriendo el área rocosa.

Finally I added the hard shadow along the drawing, to create this effect similar to that of a cartoon, so that it didn't look different from the style with which the character was drawn.

This way I finished this background or scenery where I imagined this little Firewolf would look great.

Finalmente agregué la sombra dura a lo largo del dibujo, para crear este efecto parecido al de una caricatura, para que no se viese distinto al estilo con el que fue dibujado el personaje.

De esta manera quedó terminado este fondo o escenario en donde imaginé que quedaría genial este pequeño Firewolf.
