I think it's ART O'Clock! (#2)

I don't want to seem cheesy but this is slowly becoming one of my favorite communities on here. Not only that I love Street Art and thank God I have plenty of pictures to share with local art, but there are so many stories shared without using words that are impossible not to bring you a smile while trying to figure out what the artist thought about.

Happily, I make this task a lot easier for you on my posts as I like sharing the story behind the art for these I know what it represented, and while it's been a while since my first post from a series that will turn out pretty big with the passage of time, I will drop 5 more pieces of art I had the opportunity to discover in the city I'm currently living: Sibiu (Romania).

Most of the street art I'll share within this community is part of the Sibiu International Street Art Festival, and while I missed exploring them when the festivals took place, I ended up walking more than 100km in town to catch up with everything!

Oh, and let's not forget... today it's about CCC's Street Art Contest #207!

The first street art I'd like to begin my post with and which is my favourite from today's selection comes with a story that perhaps is part of every artist out there, especially before everything is ready and signed off. Popescu, the artist behind the graffiti shown above, created what he entitles as "Happiness" with the thought of representing gratitude to those who have the patience to bring their contribution to street art in general and even to wait while everything is slowly becoming a whole. Hence why, the little chaos that is very well controlled in this one, shows more emotions and moods everyone gets through while checking out any street art currently out there.

Name: Happiness (2020)
Artists: POPESCU
Location: Liceul Onisifor Ghibu (Sibiu, Romania)

Next up, we have something quite suggestive for the location the street art belongs to, but definitely, a message that represents very well how life looks like for many of us lately. The character drawn using the style of a caricature is placed on one side of the Astra County Library and it's meant to represent the definition of information and technology, all in one piece. While information can come in many forms, including through technology, it's important not to forget about the actual books and to not let ourselves be fully guided by technology which sooner or later will harm our brains.

Name: Limbo (2019)
Artists: ROBERT OBERT
Location: Filială a Bibliotecii Județene Astra (Sibiu, Romania)

If we are still on the part with things we should not forget to enjoy in our life, there is also childhood and fantasy that are the main themes for the next street art I'd like to share. Obviously, how childhood looked like for some of us will never be seen the same for the modern kids, but fantasy is a domain that can go quite far when it comes to books, stories or even movies. And based on how the world looks like lately, more and more of us tend to look for methods to disconnect from reality for a bit, focusing on places like the one in this graffiti - filled with colours, life, happiness, and no risks.

Name: Garlic Fairy (2022)
Artists: ADRIAN LUȚĂ & PARA
Location: Bloc str. Prof. Ioan Moga (Sibiu, Romania)

While the previous street arts had rather a complex way of sharing a message, this one is on the opposite speaking about the importance of sharing a flower. Sadly, this thing become rarer and rarer with modern times and even when it happens the happiness is not how it used to look a while ago. So based on these thoughts, Mihail Alin, the artist of this piece of art, remembers about the unseen treasures one can unlock with a simple flower. Namely, the love, the gratitude, the support and a lot more powerful emotions that are hard to express in words.

Name: Simplicity (2019)
Artists: MIHAIL ALIN
Location: Skate Park (Sibiu, Romania)

Last but not least, we have a different way of approaching street art, the whole magic happening on the ground and not on the walls of a building as we are used to seeing. This time, the meaning behind this street art is to stir curiosity towards the teenagers who spend too much time online rather than offline, where the vibrant colours are meant to help those practising a sport in this place to have a good time, convincing them to return for more.

Name: Evantai (EN: Hand Fan) (2019)
Artists: BOGDANA PASCAL
Location: Colegiul National Pedagogic Andrei Saguna (Sibiu, Romania)

There are very few placed on the main streets. Rather in between the neighborhoods or at schools. But once you get to see some of these, you end up wanting to catch them all!

Thanks for the kind comment. Hope you have a great day 💗

I also like street art and it is interesting to interpret the meaning. My favorite is the colorful street art that symbolizes childhood and fantasy, and I also like the flower. It would be nice if society returned to some old values that led us in the right direction...
