Show Me A Photo (SMAP) 162 - Birds On Man-made Objects

Hello everyone. Welcome to Round 162 of the very popular and long running contest, the Show Me A Photo or SMAP, hosted by @nelinoeva. Check out the contest announcement here. If you love taking photos of birds this is the challenge for you. Join in the fun now.

This week's theme is:

FREE THEME

Once again I am sprinting towards the finish line to get my entry in before deadline. I love Free Theme weeks that's why I just have to join. For this Round, I have chosen to show Birds perched on man-made objects. I have taken a lot of photos this month and most of them are about this theme that I have chosen.

Let's start with one of my favorites, the Yellow Vented Bulbul which I didn't know is common in our neighborhood.

And of course, when talking of birds on man-made objects, who wouldn't remember our friendly pigeons?

Or the ever fleet winged friends, the sparrow.

And even the crow, here on top of a neighbor's roof about to take off. (Doesn't look like one, does it?)

Here's my favorite street chicken who I no longer see. She must have been part of a family's dinner already. She's my favorite because of her unusually long neck.

But my prized photo of all is this Barred Rail or what we call Tikling in our dialect. I call her (or maybe it's a him) the road runner because it runs so fast that it is almost impossible to approach it and take a photo of it. She'd be long gone by the time I can focus on it.

I was only able to capture this because I was inside my car while she was crossing the street. I stopped a long way from it so she did not feel my presence. This creature is so used to vehicles passing by that she doesn't think it's a threat. Being able to capture it in photo is for me very fortuitous and already an achievement.

And that's it for the meantime. My entry is the first photo although I would really have wanted the last one but it is not very clear because of the distance from the bird and myself.

Stay safe and healthy everyone. Best of luck to all participants.

(All photos are mine.)

Thanks for visiting and interest in my post. The bird in the first photo is called the Yellow-vented Bulbul. Here's what Wikipedia says about this bird.

The yellow-vented bulbul (Pycnonotus goiavier), or eastern yellow-vented bulbul, is a member of the bulbul family of passerine birds. It is a resident breeder in southeastern Asia from Indochina to the Philippines. It is found in a wide variety of open habitats but not the deep forest. It is one of the most common birds in cultivated areas. Source: Wikipedia

Here's another shot.
