SHOW ME A PHOTO SMAP 169- The Bird Of Paradise
Hello Feathered Friends Community. It's Round 169 of the Show Me A Photo or SMAP Contest hosted by @nelinoeva. Heard of this already? If not check out the contest post here. Do read up and perhaps join us in the fun every week.
The theme for this week is:
BIRD ART
While walking home from the makeshift market at the entrance of our subdivision, I noticed this plant of one of our neighbors. It was full of its peculiar bird-like flowers blooming prolifically. Perhaps the 3 weeks of intermittent rain that we had brought on its vigorous flowering.
This plant is called the Bird of Paradise. It actually is a perennial herb and its scientific name is Heliconia Psittacorum. Upon seeing it I thought of using it as my subject for this week's SMAP. Wouldn't it be nice to have an artwork of this particular plant with a name quite appropriate and fitting of our week's theme?
To find the artwork was now my objective. I looked into different stores that I thought would have bird art. I saw a lot which would have been perfect for this week but I hesitated to use them because I was fixated on this Bird of Paradise. Finding none after days of searching, I turned to my last resort - my artist daughter. I asked her if she could do a sketch of a bird, any bird real or imaginary, that would resemble the plant. She said she was busy but would ask her beau to do one. Last night she sent me the artwork and I knew then that I had my SMAP entry.
Here it is. Tadaaa!
This is a digital art titled "Dancing Morning." It's by my daughter's artist boyfriend James. I don't exactly know what digital app he used but my daughter said it could be either Illustrator or Photoshop. This is my entry to this week's SMAP.
Well, there you have it. I finally got to submit my Bird of Paradise art and I do hope you like it as much as I. Wishing a big good luck to all the participants. Keep safe everyone and may you all have a blessed weekend.
(Unless specified, all photos are mine. )
Aww... that guy has some imagination to see the birds in the "bird of paradise"

You surprised me again, this is is such an interesting entry.
By the way, this flower is kind of exotic plant for us. I always remember what an old boss told me once. The only flower that can be given as a present to a man is this one - the Bird of Paradise.
Really? I didn't know that. Could it be this plant is considered a masculine one? From its name I guess it can symbolize paradise, freedom and happiness. Giving a flower from this plant to someone would then mean wishing these to that person. As a man I wouldn't mind receiving this and won't feel as awkward as when I receive a rose or tulip or daisy. Just my opinion. 😊
