SMAP 178 - Roadkill Morsel

The theme for this week is:

HUNGRY BIRD

I was walking towards the makeshift market outside our subdivision when I chanced upon this scene. There was a roadkill ahead, a big rat, which was run over by a vehicle as it was crossing the street. Running over rats on the road is quite frequent in our subdivision. In fact, it has become some sort of a sport to some who do not miss the opportunity to run rats over when they see them.

Suddenly, a big crow flew down towards the roadkill. What a sight. Fortunately I had my camera ready and was able to catch it as it swooped down towards the victim.

I read somewhere that crows are scavengers and that they eat almost anything, including carcasses of dead animals. I knew then that this was true.

Yummy. Yummy. Boy, was it having a great time. Luckily, no one passed by to disturb his roadside meal. Having its fill it got ready to leave and flew away, satisfied and looking forward to the next roadkill morsel.
