SMAP 198 Show Me A Photo Contest - My Garden Visitor

BIRD AND FOOD

I still have some photos of my morning visitor, Olivia, which I haven't shared yet here in SMAP. Olivia is an Olive Back Sunbird now renamed to simply Garden Sunbird. She visits our garden almost every morning and I always wondered why. I soon found out that she has a preference for the nectar of our Purple Bell Flower, a cousin of the trumpet flower. When I looked up Google, indeed Garden Sunbirds are nectarivorous and only pick on insects and worms when feeding their young.

She was fully concentrated on feeding that she did not notice me creeping in on her closer. In fact she was going acrobat mode to get its food.

Well, as long as our purple bell keeps on blooming I am sure I will get to see Olivia again and again.
