A day with no plans, okonomiyaki and beer / 何の予定もない一日、お好み焼きとビール (English & Japanese)

I slept well during the day today.

Perhaps I have been a bit tired of late. Battling with my elder son who is on the threshold of rebellion, sudden overnight trip, extreme heat & heavy rain, laundry that won't dry, working part time from 9pm, extra shifts........ It's been like that for a while now, and last week I couldn't even join #beersaturday, which I had planned to do!

Today was the first day in a long time that I had nothing planned, so I slept anyway during the day. I had a series of strange dreams, but I kept sleeping. By evening, I finally felt energized, so I decided to make okonomiyaki for dinner. Okonomiyaki itself is very easy to cook, but the electric grill is heavy and a bit cumbersome to take in and out, so it takes a bit of energy to cook it.

First, cut cabbage. Okonomiyaki is mostly cabbage, right? So I think it is a healthy food for a full stomach, but how is it really?

Mix okonomiyaki flour, water, and egg, then add cabbage at the end. A little cheese is also added.

It was past 8:00 p.m. when we started baking because we were waiting for our elder son, who had gone to juku, to come home. My husband was already starting to get annoyed because he was too hungry and started baking as soon as he saw the bowl with the ingredients. He is calm and never gets too angry, but he just can't seem to beat hunger😅He was so eager to eat quickly that he flipped the okonomiyaki before it was cooked enough, so the first piece lost its shape.

If you want to grill quickly, you could grill two or three small ones...but it would be useless to say that to someone who is frustrated. I will leave the grilling to him and have a beer!

Today I drank Sapporo's Sakura Beer. Again, I was attracted by the design of the can, so I bought it. When I poured it into a tin tumbler, I found it to be a beautiful amber color with a slight reddish tinge. The cherry blossom design has a Taisho-like appearance, and it is said to be a modern version of a beer that was drunk from the Taisho to the early Showa period.

Enjoy it with grilled okonomiyaki. Tasty!

Today we grilled a total of three large okonomiyaki and the family of four enjoyed them.

I still seem to be in bad condition when I have a full schedule. And I don't enjoy anything if I am tired or sleepy. So today I just slept, ate, and drank beer, but I am filled with a sense of accomplishment that this is exactly what I should have done! LOL!

I also drank "Yona Yona Ale" ☺

今日の日中はよく眠りました。

このところ、ちょっと疲れていたのかもしれません・・・　反抗期気味の長男とのバトル、急な一泊旅行、猛暑＆大雨、乾かない洗濯物、夜9時からのパート、シフトの追加・・・などなど。ここしばらくずっとそんな調子で、先週は参加するつもりだった#beersaturdayにも参加できませんでした！

久しぶりの空白の時間となった今日、日中はとにかく眠りました。立て続けに変な夢を見るも、そのまま眠り続けました。夕方頃になってようやく元気がチャージされた感があったので、晩御飯にお好み焼きをつくることにしました。お好み焼き自体はとても簡単ですが、ホットプレートが重たいのと、出し入れがやや面倒なのとで、作るのにちょっと気合が要るのです。

まずはキャベツを切るところから。お好み焼きってほとんどキャベツなんですよね。だから満腹感のわりにヘルシーな食べ物じゃないかと思っているのですが、実際どうなのでしょうか。

お好み焼き粉と水、卵を混ぜ合わせ、最後にキャベツを入れます。チーズも少し加えました。

塾に行った長男が帰ってくるのを待っていたため、焼き始めは20時過ぎ・・・　父ちゃんは既にお腹が減りすぎてイライラし始めており、材料が入ったボウルを見るなり焼き始めました。あまり怒ることのない人なのですが、空腹にだけは勝てないようです😅早く食べたかったせいでひっくり返すのが早かったため、一枚目は形が崩れてしまいました。

早く焼き上げたいなら、小さいやつを2～3枚焼けばいいと思うんですけどね・・・しかし、カリカリしている人にそんなことを言っても無駄でしょう。焼くのは任せて、私はビールをいただくことにします！

今日飲んだのは、サッポロの「サクラビール」。今回も缶のデザインに惹かれて買いました。錫のタンブラーに注いでみると、琥珀色というのでしょうか、少し赤み掛かったきれいな色でした。桜のデザインに大正っぽさがありますが、大正から昭和初期にかけて飲まれたビールを、現代風にアレンジしたものだそうです。

焼きあがったお好み焼きとともにいただきます。おいしい！

今日は大きいお好み焼きを3枚焼き、家族四人で平らげました。

やっぱり私は予定が詰まっているとダメみたいだし、誰もがそうだと思いますが、疲れていたり、眠かったりすると何事も楽しめません。ということで今日は眠って食べて、ビールを飲んだだけでしたが、これこそ私がやるべきことをやったんじゃないかという達成感でいっぱいです！笑

「よなよなエール」も飲んじゃいました☺
