Hello to everyone in the BEER community! I will be joining BeerSaturday again this week from Japan!

The #BeerSaturday Challenge - Week 361

My husband bought me a can of Yebisu Beer “Citrus Blanc'' and Suntory's “ Soyokaze Ale”. (“Soyokaze” means “gentle breeze”). Yebisu is a premium beer brand from Sapporo Breweries in Japan, first brewed in 1890. It is known for its rich, malt-based flavor and high quality. Suntory is also a major Japanese beverage company, famous for its diverse range of products including whisky, beer, and soft drinks.Both companies are iconic in Japan's beverage industry, each with a long history and a reputation for quality.

To enjoy these beers I decided to make German fries with potatoes, onions, and bacon that I had at home. I tried to imitate what I saw on TikTok, but the only thing “Japanese” about it was the addition of soy sauce at the end. Is it also very Japanese to have green onions sprinkled on top? Cambodian salt is used for seasoning😅

I remembered that I had tin tumblers in the back of the cupboard and decided to pour beer into them today. My husband bought this tumbler from somewhere on our 10th wedding anniversary. He was proud to say, “I heard that the 10th anniversary is called a tin wedding!”... But when we drank alcohol with that tumbler at that time, it seemed to have a strong metallic smell, and we have not used it since then. But since it was Beer Saturday, I took it out of the box and poured beer into it, and it did not smell as bad as before. It may be a little small for drinking beer, but it is said to have excellent cold retention properties, so I think it will continue to be useful. Too bad I can't show you the color of the beer.

The first “Citrus Blanc” beer I drank was really just like the image on the can. It had a refreshing citrus aroma and was easy to drink...although it was bitter enough for a beginner like me.

The next beer I opened was “ Soyokaze Ale”, which is also said to be relatively easy to drink, but it was stronger or richer than the “Citrus Blanc” I drank earlier. I preferred Soyokaze. The website says that it has a “white wine-like aroma,” but unfortunately, I couldn't tell. I guess I still need more training.

In Tokyo, we have had strong winds and heavy rain for some time now. But today the weather has cleared up nicely and is just as pleasant as this can of “ Soyokaze Ale”. After drying off all the accumulated laundry, the beer I drank from midday tasted good, probably due to the sense of accomplishment, and the German fries with the skin on were gone in no time😋

夫がヱビスの「シトラスブラン」、「そよ風エール」を買ってきてくれたので、家にあったジャガイモ、タマネギ、ベーコンでジャーマンポテトを作ることにしました。TikTokを眺めていたら「和風ジャーマンポテト」の動画が流れてきて美味しそうだったので真似てみました。「和風」と言っても、最後に醤油を入れているだけなんですけどね。。ネギを散らしているのも多少は日本っぽい?ちなみに、使っているのはカンボジア土産の塩です😅

戸棚の奥に錫製のタンブラーがあることを思い出し、今日はそれにビールを注いでみることにしました。このタンブラーは結婚10周年の時に夫がどこかから仕入れてきたものです。「10周年は錫婚っていうらしいんだぜぇ!」と威張っていましたが、当時そのタンブラーでお酒を飲んだところ金属臭が強いように感じ、それ以来使っていませんでした。でも、せっかくのBeerSaturdayだしね!と箱から出してビールを注いでみたところ、以前のような臭いはせず。ビールを飲むにはちょっと小さいかもしれませんが、保冷性に優れているらしいのでこれからも活躍してくれそうです。ビールの色をお見せできないのは、ブログ的には残念ですが。

最初に飲んだ「シトラスブラン」は、本当にこの缶のイメージそのままのビールでした。柑橘系の香りが爽やかで飲みやすかったです・・といっても、初心者の私には充分苦いんですけどね。

続いて開けた「そよ風エール」、こちらも比較的飲みやすいビールだそうですが、先に飲んだ「シトラスブラン」よりは強いというかコクがあるというか。私はこちらの方が好きでした。ホームページには「白ワインのような香りが特長」とありましたが、残念ながらそれはちょっと分かりませんでした。まだまだ修行が足りないようです。

東京ではここしばらく強風、大雨が続いていました。でも今日はすっきりと晴れて、ちょうどこの「そよ風エール」の缶のように気持ちの良い天気です。溜まった洗濯物を全て干し切って昼間から飲むビールは達成感のせいか美味しく感じられ、皮付きのジャーマンポテトがよく進みました。

Thank you! I'm actually not much of a drinker, but I started drinking when I started attending Beer Saturday🍻This dish is very easy to make. You don't need many ingredients, so please give it a try.

きれいなタンブラーですね!ガラスでばかり探して、馬鹿でかいジョッキしかなかったり、6つセットだったりで挫折しかけていましたが、ガラス以外の素材も開拓してみたくなりました。

そうそう、ジャーマンポテトといえば、ドイツにジャーマンポテトという料理はなくて、相方に笑われました。日本の居酒屋では定番なのに!お醤油とネギ、いいですね。芋ピザに続きセブンさん宅の芋料理真似します😊

タンブラー、4年ほどしまい込んであったのをBeerSaturdayのために引っ張り出してみました😅
ジャーマンポテト、やはりないんですね!なんでジャーマンポテトと呼ばれるようになったんだろう。ナポリタンもナポリ発祥じゃないらしいし・・・😭w 味付けは醤油+カンボジアの塩だし、もはやドイツの要素はゼロですね!

I haven't seen these versions yet! But it's so fitting to the season. The potatoes look good to be paired with the beer!

Haha, it seems so. Since it is known by this name in Japan, many people think it is a German dish🤣🤣Bratkartoffeln” sounds very fashionable!

In Japan, it is called Germanfries, but apparently it is not a German food😅 It is made by frying potatoes, onions and bacon with salt and pepper.
