I'm here to present you my participation this week with my favorite movie related to that beautiful feeling called: friendship.

Estoy por acá para presentarles mi participación de esta semana con mi película favorita relacionada con ese hermoso sentimiento llamado: amistad.

My Selection / Mi selección:

This time I chose a movie starring two acting gentlemen: Jack Nicholson (Edward Cole) and Morgan Freeman (Carter Chambers). Two completely opposite personalities: Edward is an atheist, millionaire, capricious, with an unstable personality, four failed marriages and a daughter he hasn't seen for a long time.

On the other hand, Carter is a religious man, God-fearing, very intelligent and intellectual, respectful, a mechanic by profession, a man concerned about his family, married for more than 30 years, with children and grandchildren, who likes to do good and help people.
However, both have something in common: they have terminal cancer and their days are numbered.

They decide to live and enjoy the little time they have left to live by doing the things they were unable to do during their lives. To do so, they write down all those things on a list on a piece of paper and set out on an adventure.

Escogí esta vez una película interpretada por dos señores de la actuación: Jack Nicholson (Edward Cole) y Morgan Freeman (Carter Chambers). Dos personalidades completamente opuestas: Edward es ateo, millonario, caprichoso, con una personalidad inestable, con cuatro fracasos matrimoniales y una hija que no ve desde hace mucho tiempo.
Por otro lado, Carter es un hombre religioso, temeroso de Dios, muy inteligente e intelectual, respetuoso, mecánico de profesión, hombre preocupado por su familia, con mas de 30 años de casado, con hijos y nietos y le gusta hacer el bien y ayudar a la gente.
Sin embargo ambos tiene algo en común: tienen cáncer terminal y sus días están contados.
Toman la decisión de vivir y disfrutar el poco tiempo que les queda de vida haciendo las cosas que no pudieron realizar en el transcurso de la misma. Para ello escriben todas esas cosas en una lista en un papel y se lanzan a la aventura.

The reason for my choice is simple: how two people with diametrically opposed personalities, with different ways of seeing and living life and with completely different social statuses, can cultivate a beautiful and sincere friendship in the last stage of their lives?

The answer to this question is the reason why this film is very interesting, entertaining and funny. It also leaves us with a hopeful message in spite of going through adverse and unpredictable situations.

The film shows us two elderly people who meet in a hospital and who have been evicted because the cancer they suffer from is already in the terminal stage. This news is devastating for anyone because we all love life, and it is a cause of depression and discomfort.

But after overcoming the first phase of receiving the news, the stage of acceptance of death begins and they make the decision to take advantage of the little time they have left to live by having fun and accomplishing a list of activities that they could never achieve in their entire lives.

La razón de mi escogencia es simple: ¿como dos seres con personalidades diametralmente opuestas, con diferentes formas de ver y vivir la vida y con status sociales completamente diferentes, pueden llegar a cultivar una bonita y sincera amistad en la última etapa de sus vidas?
La respuesta a esta pregunta es la razón por la cual esta película es muy interesante, entretenida y divertida. Además nos deja un mensaje esperanzador a pesar de estar pasando por situaciones adversas e impredecibles.
El film nos muestra a dos adultos mayores que coinciden en un hospital y que han sido desahuciados porque el cáncer que padecen ya está en la etapa terminal. Esta noticia es devastadora para cualquier persona porque todos amamos la vida, y es causa de depresión y malestar.
Pero luego de superar la primera fase al recibir la noticia, comienza la etapa de la aceptación a la muerte y toman la decisión de aprovechar el poco tiempo de vida que les queda divirtiéndose al cumplir una lista de actividades que en toda su vida nunca pudieron lograr.

Here begins the fun part of the movie, when Edward convinces Carter to start fulfilling each item on the list, using his millions without worrying about the expenses involved. There they have fun jumping with parachutes, racing a mustang, visiting many places in the world, the pyramids of Egypt, among others. They try by all means to accomplish all the things they wrote down on the list.

Edward with his money could make all this adventure possible, but Carter with his faith in God and his great charisma to help other people will make his friend understand that there are things in life that money can not buy.

Aquí comienza la parte divertida de la película, cuando Edward convence a Carter de comenzar a cumplir cada punto de la lista, utilizando sus millones sin preocuparse por los gastos que esto conlleva. Friendship has such wonderful powers that, regardless of social status, race, skin color, religion or economic level, people find that affinity that makes them so close that they can live as brothers and sisters.

I loved this story because it teaches us that money can buy many things that make life more bearable and fun, but what can really make us fully happy is family and interpersonal relationships.

Friendship is not bought with money but with quality time, with repentance when we make mistakes, with selfless help and with the ability to forgive without leaving traces of rancor in our hearts.

La amistad tiene facultades tan maravillosas que hacen que, indiferentemente de la condición social, raza, color de la piel, religión o nivel económico, las personas encuentren esa afinidad que los hace tan cercanos que pueden llegar a vivir como hermanos.
Me encantó esta historia porque nos enseña que el dinero puede comprar muchas cosas que nos hacen la vida más llevadera y divertida, pero lo que realmente puede hacernos felices plenamente es la familia y las relaciones interpersonales.
