Let's talk about 🐸 productivity! | WE #167

When I was in school, my mom used to tell me that when I had to take a test, or simply when I had to study, I should do it first thing in the morning, because according to her, that way we memorize and understand things better.

I did it and it really worked for me. I felt that my brain was fully active. But of course, I was used to waking up early because my classes always started at 7am.

Then when I was in college I got to hear someone's advice: "do the hardest thing first and the rest will be a piece of cake". And indeed, it worked. It was true.

Today I know that all that I heard was nothing more than productivity methods to work better and avoid procrastination.

They say that the brain works better in the morning because we have more energy as the day begins and as the hours go by we lose this energy. The smartest thing we can do, then, is to do what we find more tedious or more complicated first thing in the morning, according to this method. But.... There is always a "but".

In my opinion, this goes beyond a fixed schedule like you have to do your activities in the morning, but it all depends on your lifestyle. It is no secret that there are morning people and night people.

There are people who prefer to start their day at 5am (the 5am club) and there are people who start their day later, like 11am or even 12pm, who feel more productive at night and therefore sleep late.

For a person who goes to bed at 2am it will not be pleasant or productive to wake up at 6am to work, but will be a zombie. He will probably want to die or murder anyone who speaks to him.

In my case, I function best at night. I am definitely a night person. It's been hard for me to wake up early since I was 15-16 years old.

What I mean is, what really matters, is that you make the most of the first few hours after waking up. It doesn't matter what time you wake up, but do your tasks as soon as possible and use that pile of energy on the more difficult tasks, which in the end, you won't need much energy to do the easier ones.

Basically I am talking about time and energy management of our body. Here the most important thing is that you know yourself very well. Enough to know which are your most productive hours and above all, which are those things that make you regret just thinking that you have to do them. You have to know how to prioritize your tasks.

So this, in my opinion, is what Mark Twain meant in his quote.

And you, do you already know your frog?

PS: This advice to study first thing in the morning and do the hardest thing first, I also got to hear it from Brian Tracy in a personal growth seminar that was going around social networks.

PS2: Don't worry. No frogs were hurt in the making of this post. Not so literal 🤣

Hello friend, you are right, it is important to give priority to the most important tasks and do it when our body has all the energy, as the day goes by our gasoline is consumed haha Although I must confess that I feel very active at night, it is a habit that I should correct and use the night to sleep early.
A big hug!

Totally. I realized that if I start with the easier things, then I get lazy to do the harder things, plus I have less energy for it.

I strongly agree, and this is also very me, its how I do my test when I was still and college.

Exactly! When taking exams I also answered the hardest part first. It's a good technique.

I agree friend! It doesn't matter what time we wake up, everyone knows what time they work best, the important thing is to take advantage of that burst of energy to do the most difficult thing.
Excellent post.✨

They also told me that studying early in the morning helped memorize and learn better, I tried it and it worked for me. I belong to the team of people who are more productive at night, it has always been difficult for me to do things during the day.
