THE BROUHAHA ON BREAKING GUINNESS WOULD RECORD

Competition has become a part of human existence either with oneself or with another. There are various reasons why people compete,it could be for promotion purposes, to elevate ones status, to become successful in a field, to be better than what they used to be, to satisfy an urge,to prove a point and so on. Sometimes this is healthy and other times it could unhealthy. Just like we have heard of competitions in places of work leading to unhealthy rivalry between both parties and it sometimes ends up tragically. But in life, competition must happen one way or another.
Hence, last year 2023 was one year where there was so much much noise about the guiness book of record. I had really never taken guiness world record activities serious before. In my country for instance,I could count like 10 entries after the popular chef, Hilda Baci did the cookathon in Lagos which gathered a lot of support from friends , families and the whole Nigeria at large. Although this didn't last too last as we would have expected as the record was almost immediately broken by another chef Alan Fisher (a 2 time guiness world record baker for cooking and baking)from Japan who beat her longest cooking marathon by 24hours.
So last year we had various entries from Nigeria like chef Hilda, the skipping rope guy,Chinonso eche,chef dammy,longest painting,wig maker and some I can't remember. One thing I have come to realize is that some people do these stuff just to have fake and gain a wider ground for their businesses,while others just mess around with the opportunity.
For instance,last year we had the chef Hilda cookathon, from all that we experienced we could see a lady that has built her brand over the years and wants to use the platform not only to prove her worth and cooking skills but also to grow her business. This was why she was heavily invested in it and no doubt she benefited greatly and grew her brand. Her public relations team did a good job in publicizing the event that took place for over 3 days that it got the deserved recognition. Subsequently we saw brands endorsing her and gifting her products.
A few weeks just after the chef Hilda Baci did her cookathon, we heard another lady trying the same thing to beat her record. Although, I really didn't support it because I believed as a fellow Nigerian and as it was a big win for all of us ,the lady could have allowed her enjoy her success for a while and not just try to copy her strategy, unfortunately though,she didn't break the record because there was no thorough planning and a lot of lackadaisical attitudes.
There is something about a person starting a trend and everyone wants to copy that trend and even get the glory for it,which is not right. It's okay to want to break records but they should not use it to dethrone a fellow colleague who just got the glory. The craze to prove a point is so high.
So far so good, the recent developments following the guiness world record goes to show that people are talented in various skills. It takes courage and a force of push to bring out that those skills at time and the GWR is doing so well in acknowledging that.

I mean if you are breaking a record just to take it from someone else then with this kind of intention,how will you even sail through.
I know Chef Baci planned it years ago and no wonder she got it.
Whether someone breaks her record or not,she has reaped all work.
Yeah true and it's common in Nigeria,when you start something,people try to take the glory from you but all the same just utilized the efforts
Guiness world record did an amazing work last year. Though they have been existing but last year they really did amazing stuffs. We saw alot of people trying to break the Guiness book of record just to trend and we saw others with the zeal to use that opportunity to grow, the likes of hilda Baci and few others and we also saw others just trying to trend by overtaking people. So far so good, we saw that people were really talented and good at what they do.
Yes indeed,there were more entries than usual both the serious and unserious one
The interest in the cook-a-thon is curious, just within a span of few months, so many records have been broken and i am currently awaiting on the feedback from Failatu, i am sure she would become the new queen in this area. The year is going to be fun and full or records
I guess the chefs were looking for a push to show their talents
Of course indeed people are very well talented and funny enough the very well talented ones that has been discovered might still be newbies compare to the ones that are yet to be discovered which is the reason why people keep getting their hopes high as they hunger for pushing themselves.
In as much as humans are concerned the competition keeps growing and one thing about competition is not just about winning but also about solvedevelopment and self-invement because in practice and working towards winning such competitions leads to hard work and self development.
Chef Hilda Baci breaking the Guinness World record was awesome and it actually made a lot of people to realize that there is a lot they could do and get some shots of rewards for especially engaging in competitions as some people find it fun.
A lot of people got in to win the record and at some points didn't hit the target but rather hits another target of getting popular which is another reward, so I guess it's still a win-win.
Indeed ... Humans have talent embedded in them and they just need a platform to showcase it
Chef Dammy and all the other chefs that sprung up after Hilda were just looking for attention. Why didn't they attempt to break the record before Hilda did? A lot of Nigerians are just that way, they rather copy another person than to come up with something original
Yeah...they want to do what the other person did to trend ...
