One for the Books
As an artist, joining bazaars is an enticing idea to me. But at the same time, it is not something I am super eager to do. It's because I know the amount of time, sweat, effort, and funds needed in both the preparation part and actual bazaar days, which I am not sure I am ready to deal with. Plus the unpredictability of what's going to happen is just too much for me. I can't fully get at peace with the possibility of having more loss than gains.
So when S, my classmate in an upskilling course, first shared with me their April event called, One for the Books, and asked me if I wanted to have a booth there, my immediate response was, "No! No! No!" (with matching hand gestures pa! 🤣) I mean, sure, I would like visit. But getting a booth for myself? Ummm. Too much work! haha
Fortunately, this idea was brought up in one of our classes, and it was proposed to have a shared booth as a collective. With that, I felt less anxious, and without second thoughts, I signed up to be part of the group for the booth.
Having 6 people in one booth is way much better than doing it alone. Since we were multiple artists, it lessened the pressure of producing lots of pieces to be displayed. Plus, the support system was strong, which we badly needed, especially in the middle of the oven-hot weather. HAHAHA
Aside from the booth, there were also performances from spoken word artists, book authors, and open mic-ers! It was really a fun experience! I even got to performed a spoken word poem as well! Hahah
Alssoooo, normally, my introverted self is not very comfortable in dealing with too much people. But I noticed that when with the right crowd, a different side of me gets unleashed. And it is safe to say that the One for the Books crowd is my kind of people. 🤎
Can you believe that I not only interacted with other people, but there was a point when I actually INITIATED conversations with strangers out of nowhere?!? I even asked some to be interviewed for a content idea (to be posted soon)! That's a huge leap for me! And I am super happy and proud that I was able to go out of my comfort zone the past 2 days.
This whole experience was literally one for the books... and I am glad and grateful I experienced it with the right people.
I am grateful for the overall experience!
Stay sane and safe!
Let's spread happiness.

I completely understand your hesitation about joining bazaars as an artist. It definitely requires a lot of time, effort, and resources, and the unpredictability can be overwhelming. But it's great to hear that you found a way to participate that works for you! Having a shared booth sounds like a fantastic solution and a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with others. Best of luck with the event!
