After missing the last BeerSaturday, there's always a bit too much alcohol during the festive season. So I took a little break without alcohol, maybe one day I'll try Dry January, the whole month of January without a drop of alcohol. In 2025, who knows 😀. But for this year, here's my entry to the BeerSaturday 341 with The Longest Time pilsner brewed by Mellön in Montreal.

Après avoir raté le dernier BeerSaturday, il y a toujours un peu trop d'alcool pendant les Fêtes de fin d'année. Alors une petite pause était nécessaire, peut être un jour j'essayerai le Dry January, tout le mois de janvier sans une goutte d'alcool. En 2025 qui sait. Mais pour cette année, voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 341 avec la pilsner The Longest Time brassée par Mellön à Montréal.

📜 Brewery / Brasserie :

The project of the [Mellön] brewery (https://mellonbrasserie.ca/) began, as it often does, with a group of friends with a passion for beer. They are Alexandre Pontbriand, brewmaster and David Goudreau, operations manager. The premises on Saint André Street were found just before the pandemic in March 2020. The brewery opens in May 2021, with a focus on thirst-quenching beers such as lagers. For the record, the name Mellön comes from the Tolkien universe, "friend" in elven. I like it.

L'aventure de la brasserie Mellön commence comme souvent avec un groupe d'amis passionnés de bière. Il s'agit de Alexandre Pontbriand, maitre brasseur et David Goudreau, directeur des opérations. Le local sur la rue Saint André a été trouvé juste avant la pandémie en mars 2020. La brasserie ouvre en mai 2021 avec surtout des bières de soif comme des lagers. Pour info, le nom Mellön vient de l'univers de Tolkien, "ami" en elfe.

🍺 Tasting / Dégustation :

The Longest Time is a "4-hour boil" pilsner (4.8% alcohol and IBU 30) that produces a clear, golden beer. On the can is this text in : "If you boil me for 4 hours tonight, there will be one pilsner left to drink. What else could I do? I'm boiling in front of you. " 🤔 In the glass, there's a lovely clear golden color with a neck that quickly disappears. On the palate, this is an easy-drinking beer with a rather fruity and fresh taste.

The Longuest Time est une pilsner "4h d'ébullition" (4.8% d'alcool) qui permet d'avoir une bière claire et dorée. Sur la canette, il y a ce texte en anglais : "Si vous me faites bouillir pendant 4 heures ce soir, il restera une pilsner à boire. Qu'est-ce que je pourrais faire d'autre ? Je suis en ébullition devant toi." 🤔 Dans le verre, on retrouve une belle robe dorée et limpide avec un col qui disparait rapidement. En bouche, c'est une bière facile à boire avec un IBU de 30 assez fruité et fraiche.

Design

The abstract design was created by Méghan Tremblay, but unfortunaly no information on this artist. But it was the illustration that caught my eye, as well as the smaller 355ml format instead of the usual pint. Since I didn't know about this brewery and it's not far from where I live, I'll soon be tasting their beers straight from the keg 😀.

Le design assez abstrait a été réalisé par Méghan Tremblay, aucune information sur cette artiste. Mais c'est l'illustration qui a attiré mon regard ainsi que son format plus petit 355ml au lieu de la pinte habituelle. Comme je ne connaissais cette brasserie et qu'elle ne se trouve pas loin de chez moi, j'irai gouter prochainement leurs bières directement du fût 😀.
