Here's my entry for BeerSaturday 365 with, for once, a beer from outside Quebec. As I'm on vacation in France, I'm presenting a lager from Brasserie Goudale. I thought this was a microbrewery, but as you'll read later in the post, that's not really the case.

Voici ma participation au BeerSaturday 365 avec pour une fois une bière ne provenant pas du Québec. Comme je suis en vacances en France, je vous présente une bière blonde de la Brasserie Goudale. Je pensais qu'il s'agissait d'une microbrasserie mais comme vous allez le lire plus loin dans le post ce n'est pas vraiment le cas.

Here's a map where I can show you exactly where the brewery is located. This time we're in northern France, in the town of Arques in the Pas de Calais.

Voici une petite carte ou je peux vous montrer précisément la localisation de la brasserie. Nous sommes cette fois dans le nord de la France dans la ville d'Arques dans le Pas de Calais.

La Goudale Blonde (Goudale)

The breweryGoudale is not a microbrewery with over 1,900,000 hectolitres of beer brewed per year. But I didn't know it until my vacation in France. The brewery was founded in 1919 in Douai (northern France). Over the course of its existence, it took on several names through takeovers, and is now based in the town of Arques (Pas de Calais).

La Brasserie Goudale n'est pas une microbrasserie avec plus de 1,900,000 hectolitres de bières brassées par année. Mais je ne la connaissais pas avant mes vacances en France. La brasserie a ètè fondée en 1919 à Douai (dans le nord de la France). Au cours de son existence, elle a pris plusieurs noms suite à des rachats et maintenant elle est installé dans la ville d'Arques (Pas de Calais).

🍺 Tasting / Dégustation :

Goudale is a 7.2% alcohol, top-fermented blonde ale (fyi : fermentation took place at a temperature of between 15 and 20 degrees). It's brewed with Flanders hops. In the glass, it has a beautiful orange-yellow color with a thick white collar. The taste is well-balanced, with a light malty taste. A great drink after a day at the beach.

La Goudale est une bière blonde avec 7,2 % d'alcool à haute fermentation (pour info, la fermentation s'est faite à une température entre 15 et 20 degrés). Elle a été brassée avec des houblons des Flandres. Dans le verre, on retrouve une belle robe jaune orangée avec un épais col blanc. Au gout, on a une bière bien équilibré avec son léger goût malté. Elle s'est très bien bue après une journée à la plage.

Design

For the design, there's not much to say. It's pretty simple, not really my style 😀. On the other hand, the information on the back of the can was interesting: in the 14th century, Goudale were the good beers aka Good Ale. The pot was bought from the Goudalier for 2 deniers. Always cool to learn while drinking a good beer.

Niveau design, il n'y a pas grand chose à dire. C'est plutôt simple pas trop mon style 😀. Par contre, l'information à l'arrière de la canette était intéressante : au XIVème siècles, les Goudales étaient les bonnes bières 'Good Ale'. Le pot était acheté chez le Goudalier pour 2 deniers. Toujours cool d'apprendre en buvant une bonne bière.
