Water is Life

Potable water is water that is safe to drink, either when drunk directly in liquid form or consumed indirectly when making food. Sources of drinking water include springs, aquifers, groundwater, rainwater harvesting, surface water (from rivers, streams, glaciers), or desalinated seawater. When delivered by a pipeline supply it is commonly known as tap water.

Contaminated water and poor sanitation are linked to the transmission of diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, dysentery, jaundice, hepatitis, etc.
I feel very fortunate to have access to the best drinking water in both of my worlds—here in Norway and back in India.

When I was a teenager in India, we faced significant water shortages. The water wells were privately owned, and the owners often locked access. They would open the wells to the public at specific hours, and we would rush to get the first water, which was clean and drinkable. After many attempts at drawing water from the well, the level would drop, leaving behind dirtier water for latecomers.

Here, I have a small copper pot to draw clean drinking water from our well. In India, we store drinking water in copper pots.

However, back then, we would carry two 15-liter copper pots—one on our head and one on our waist—walking around 3 to 4 kilometers. It was a real struggle just to obtain drinking water. Fortunately, times have changed, and we received access to government water supply through pipelines and installed our own indoor taps.

After we moved to Goa the water supply was sufficient but drinking water had to be filtered with UV filters or boiled.

now we own two wells with clean natural sand-filtered water but we are not there the whole year. I don't have any photos to show you what water looks like but my husband posted once in the Reflection Hunters contest link

But still, when we get guests some like to drink bottled water from the market. we don't have any objection.

I drink water anywhere in India if I am sure the place is clean.
We enjoy drinking our well water during our stay there. But since COVID-19 we made it our habit to drink warm water. Here in Norway also.

Our Norwegian water is clean in the world's top 10 countries.
Norway has long made it a priority to deliver high-quality drinking water to its citizens. Almost 100 percent of the Norwegian population has access to treated drinking water from waterworks that meet the high-quality standards of the EU Water Framework Directive.

Farris Lake is our local water source, drawn from 20 meters deep. Anytime anywhere in town tap water is fine.

after traveling what I do first when arriving home is drink our home water that I missed during traveling.

Here is my morning routine for drinking water. after waking i boil water in the boiler and fill a thermos and a glass. i let it cool a little before sipping it slowly. The last water I drink is 5 minutes before I go to bed.

Drinking water that is warmer than room or body temperature, drinking in sips, and holding it in the mouth for a few seconds before swallowing is the Ayurvedic technique of water drinking. retaining water in your mouth for a few seconds allows it to mix with saliva which contains enzymes that aid in digesting food. This way of drinking water is more beneficial for health than just gulping down a full glass in one go.

Our body is around 60% water. whatever food and water we consume is processed to build tissues and maintain the body in a precise order where each step is more refined than the previous. first, they are converted to plasma, then from plasma to blood, then to muscles, then to fat, then to bone, then to the nervous system, and then the final stage is reproductive functions. In each step of this whole process, sufficient water/fluid is required to build and maintain a healthy body.

drinking water is most important but also how you drink and what quality of water you drink reflects on physical mental, emotional, and spiritual health and well-being.
in my native language Jeevan means life and we use the same term for water. so water is life

The habit of drinking water when you wake up in the morning is very good and helps digestion in the intestines when the stomach is still empty. I do that all the time and preheating is great, I do it a lot and it fills me up first when I drink it before breakfast starts.

You are very lucky to live in Norway where drinking water is so easily provided by the government. Great post @hindavi!
