Home Education Curation Collection. 26th May 2024

Welcome back to the weekly curation roundup. I'm not certain what caused it, but the community has been unusually quiet for a few weeks. Maybe we all got busy at the same time! For this reason, this curation will feature some older posts. I hope you'll enjoy these highlights.

First our usual thank you everyone who makes this community what it is. This week 5% beneficiaries for interaction and contribution to the HomeEdders community go to:

@romeskie
@rafzat

@romeskie has been posting constantly in the community and there are so many great posts of her I would mention here, but I can only name one so let's go with Progressive Overloading, which means slowly making exercises or tasks harder over time. She uses this idea for her daughter's learning at home. For instance, when it comes to reading and vocabulary, she explains how gradually added more difficult activities, like retelling stories and reading harder books, to keep her little one interested and learning.

@udygold shares with us her recent experience teaching fractions to a child at home using techonology. She used her phone and an app to help the child understand fractions by drawing and shading parts of a circle, making learning fun. Maybe sometimes it's not a bad idea to try other option when teaching Math to our kids.

Speaking about technology, @kattycrochet shared with us a brief review of a platform she often uses to teach kids English. It discusses the platform's user-friendly interface and its various sections for reading, writing, watching, listening, speaking, and spelling, along with grammar and vocabulary. She emphasizes its suitability for children's language learning. Maybe we can try it too!

@taliakerch shared with us some photos from a photo exhibiton in their local gallery. It was the first of this kind her little son attented and apparently, he loved it. And this way, she highlights that learning, very often, happens outside classrooms and books.

Thank you for joining us. This curation was brought to you by @missdeli and this week I have added @justinparke as 10% beneficiary for the ongoing delegation support. Thank you!

Thank you @missdeli, a lovely roundup again. We seem to have had a Mad May instead of Mad March, everyone has been so busy this month! Let's see if June settles back down to normal.

It was nice to see what's going on in the community, especially now when I missed some posts. Maybe June will be different though! 😁
