Damn, you did the maths and everything. I am very impressed :) Though to be honest, to an introvert like me, 10,000 people sounds like a nightmare (even if they might contain a few gems).
if you meet people that you have things in common with (especially common values, culture and language), but these can sometimes be found in less usual places.
Hit the nail on the head there.
Many people will meet one, two, three, maybe even four soul mates in that time. Others will never meet one.
That's not bad odds. Not good, definitely. But I'll take the chance. Let's hope we're among the lucky ones (but then, doesn't everyone?)
I know my analysis above is far more boring that your post, but that's maths - it has its place sometimes. ;-)
Not boring. I don't have a head for maths, but I appreciate you making it sound easy. There's something to be said for knowing the actual odds, isn't there? So thank you for the analysis. I enjoyed it.
On the topic of finding a soulmate in an unusual place, did you see this post on the topic. https://peakd.com/hive-124452/@grindan/how-i-met-my-soulmate-on-hive-loh-209
Amazing Hive cross global, cross cultural romance.
Yeah, I know the story a bit :) I think Hive can work in that way that we were talking about of finding people with common values. It's certainly likelier to find that kind of people here than in some other places. Which I think is fortunate. Aren't we so lucky to have this place and meet so many unusual people close to our own unusualness?
I guess sometimes it works out.
