Tengo una gatita que se llama Guillermina, este nombre se lo puso mi hija, le pareció bonito. La rescatamos de la calle, estaba tirada en la grama, era muy chiquita y tenía una gusanera, estaba tan fría que creímos que estaba muerta. La llevamos al veterinario y se curó, el destino no quiso que muriera.

I have a kitten named Guillermina, my daughter gave her this name, she thought it was nice. We rescued her from the street, she was lying in the grass, she was very small and had a worm, she was so cold that we thought she was dead. We took her to the vet and she was cured, fate did not want her to die.

La verdad es que al principio, cuando mi hija la rescató, yo no la quería porque ya teníamos dos gatos pero con el tiempo le tomé mucho cariño y ahora la adoro y ella también a mí. Va detrás de mí y siempre debo estar a su lado cuando come, es como si me dijera: “acompáñame”, le gusta que uno la acaricie pero sin sobrepasarse. Así es mi gatica bella con sus corazones dibujados en su cuerpo.

The truth is that at first, when my daughter rescued her, I didn’t want her because we already had two cats, but over time I became very fond of her and now I adore her and she adores me too. She follows me and I must always be by her side when she eats, it’s as if she were saying: “come with me”, she likes someone to caress her but without going overboard. This is my beautiful cat with her hearts drawn on her body.

A ella no le gusta nada por encima pero yo le hice un tejido para ver cómo reacciona y la sorpresa fue que se quedó tranquilita cuando se lo puse.

She doesn’t like anything on top but I did a knitting on her to see how she reacts and the surprise was that she stayed calm when I put it on her.

A veces uno cree que los gatos no entienden a los humanos pero todo lo contrario. Así que siempre me han gustado los gatos porque crecí con animales, mis padres tenían varios animales, incluyendo gatos. Son muy inteligentes, adorables y dormilones.

Sometimes you think that cats don’t understand humans, but quite the opposite. So I’ve always liked cats because I grew up with animals, my parents had several animals, including cats. They are very intelligent, adorable and sleepy.

Mi Guillermina es única, cuando salgo a comprar se da cuenta y me mira como si me dijera: “no te vayas!”, es impresionante lo sentimental que es, una compañía sin igual. Aquí la verán en las fotos, ¡tan bella!

Supe de este concurso y quise participar. Busqué varias ideas y decidí hacerle a mi gatita un gorro tejido. Los materiales que usé fueron pabilo rojo y azul eléctrico que combinan mucho con mi mascota. El gorro lo tejí con dos agujas.

I heard about this contest and wanted to participate. I looked for several ideas and decided to make my cat a knitted cap. The materials I used were red and electric blue wick that combine a lot with my pet. I knitted the hat with two needles.

Tomé la medida de la cabeza de Guillermina desde unos centímetros por debajo de la oreja izquierda hasta el otro lado, 16 cms en total, ese sería el largo del gorro, para el ancho medí desde la frente hasta la mitad de su cabecita, 8 cms de ancho. La forma es de una V hasta llegar a la mitad (8 cms) y luego se hace lo mismo pero la V al revés.

I took the measurement of Guillermina’s head from a few centimeters below the left ear to the other side, 16 cm in total, that would be the length of the hat, for the width I measured from the forehead to the middle of her head , 8 cm wide. The shape is a V until it reaches the middle (8 cm) and then the same is done but the V is reversed.

Este gorro permite que las orejas del gato queden por fuera así que empecé a tejer, cuando el tejido llegó a los 4 cms, empecé a cortar puntos para hacer el hueco por donde pasará la oreja, luego cerré y seguí tejiendo hasta llegar a los 8 cms de tejido, esa es la mitad del gorro, ahí puse una marca para guiarme.

This hat allows the cat’s ears to be on the outside so I started knitting, when the fabric reached 4 cm, I started cutting stitches to make the hole where the ear will pass through, then I closed and continued knitting until I reached 8 cms of knitting, that is half of the hat, there I put a mark to guide me.

Al llegar a la mitad se empieza a hacer lo mismo pero al revés, comencé a tejer, cuando mi tejido llegó a los 3 cms (midiendo desde el centro donde puse la marca), hay que cortar nuevamente puntos para el hueco de la otra oreja, luego de hacerlo seguí tejiendo ya reduciendo puntos hasta llegar a los 4 cms y terminar. Hice unas trenzas con el mismo hilo para poder amarrar el gorro y las tejí en los extremos.

When you reach the middle, you start doing the same thing but in reverse, I started knitting, when my knitting reached 3 cm (measuring from the center where I put the mark), you have to cut points again for the hole of the other ear. After doing so, I continued knitting, reducing stitches until I reached 4 cm and finished. I made some braids with the same thread to tie the hat and wove them at the ends.

Y así quedó el gorro.
