Alpine lake | POBphotocontest New Round: NATURE

Hello, friends.
I would like to offer you photographs of nature along the shores of a high-mountain lake in the Western Sayan mountain system, in the Ergaki Natural Park.

On the sunny side, low, maximum two meters, Siberian cedars, fir and spruce grow, surrounded by wild rosemary, honeysuckle and lingonberry bushes.

The lake itself was formed on the site of a melted glacier and is called Karovoe. True, in Ergaki all the lakes are of glacial origin and all are tarns. Previously, on old maps this lake was called Maly Buibinsky, but someone decided to call it Karov and, not surprisingly, the name stuck; it is currently the official name of the lake. Although this name sounds a little strange, it’s like giving a newborn child the name Child...
