Drunken bird | Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 154
Hello, friends.
In our area, at the turn of winter and spring, thaws alternate with thirty-degree frosts. The poet Fyodor Tyutchev wrote about this period of the year almost two hundred years ago: “it’s not for nothing that winter is angry, its time has passed, spring is knocking on the window and driving it out of the yard.” Here we are, it seems like it’s almost spring, but winter doesn’t want to go away.
At this time, flocks of waxwings fly into our gardens. They feast on last year's fruits, which overwintered either on tree branches or on the ground under the snow.
But the fact is that during the thaw, some of these fruits fermented, and the birds got drunk from them.
I managed to photograph one such bird, a waxwing, which had eaten its fill of drunken fruits, in my grandfather’s garden.
The drunken bird forgot all caution and let me come within arm's reach.
Well, I took a few pictures with my smartphone without harming the waxwing. But in my place there could be a cat who would happily feast on a not very adequate bird.
And the feathers of waxwings, which we see in the garden in various secluded places, clearly indicate the dangers of drunkenness.
