Horses of Khakassia
Hello, friends!
For PhotoFeed Contest - Landscape Photography Round 82 by @photofeed I chose a photo I took last spring during a trip to Khakassia.
The heyday of local horse breeding came in the 9th-10th centuries, the so-called "era of the Kyrgyz Great Power". Chinese written sources mention three local types: small meat horses, large war horses, and also frisky racehorses, which were the pride of the Kyrgyz Khaganate.
Centuries have passed, states have been born and disappeared, but in the steppes of Khakassia, herds of horses still graze in summer and winter. This fact must be taken into account when driving on Khakassian roads – a living obstacle may suddenly appear in front of the car.
