Some time ago, I went on holiday to Berastagi District with my family. Berastagi District is a mountainous area that is a favorite for Medan city residents for holidays and weekends. When I was a child, we usually went on holiday to Berastagi for nature trips to enjoy views of the forest and hills.

Currently, tourists not only enjoy the cool and beautiful panorama of the hills but can also enjoy culinary tourism from various restaurants and cafés that are trying to run their business in Berastagi District. Like this time, I visited a café or restaurant that was being talked about by many people and went viral on social media, namely Sarune Coffee & Eatery.

Sarune Coffee & Eatery is a café or eatery that provides a variety of complete menus and dishes. There is a choice of local Indonesian menu or Italian menu that we can order at this restaurant. My family and I ordered several menus that were very interesting to discuss.

Tilapia Fish with Sambal Matah

The first menu that we ordered was a complete dish consisting of a portion of rice, fried tilapia fish accompanied by sambal matah. This menu is also equipped with several pieces of fried chips which complement this delicacy.

In my opinion, this menu has a very delicious taste. I like the texture of tilapia fish fried in a little oil. The texture of the fish meat feels very perfect and without the fishy taste typical of freshwater fish. I also like the taste of the hot and fresh sambal matah. The taste of this chili sauce gives additional enthusiasm to eating this rice.

Soto Medan

The second menu we are reviewing this time is soto Medan. This menu is one of the local dishes from Medan City which has its own very delicious and distinctive taste. Soto Medan is a dish like soup but made using coconut milk cooked in chicken or beef stock and added with spices such as turmeric so that the color turns yellow.

Soto Medan from Sarune Coffee & Eatery is also very delicious and very suitable to eat in a cold place like this. The fresh and savory taste of the sauce combined with the warm rice creates the perfect taste. I also didn't forget to add a little chili sauce to give this dish the right spicy taste.

Ganding Fried Rice / Sarune Signature Fried Rice

The third menu that I discussed was a menu that I ordered myself. Every meal with family, or circumstances that allow me to share food. I always try to order signature fried rice from cafes or restaurants. I have an opinion, fried rice is the initial standard or basic food that can be a standard compared to other dishes. If fried rice is delicious, the other menu will also be delicious and delicious.

Ganding Fried Rice is the signature fried rice from Sarune Coffee & Eatery. This fried rice is equipped with fried chicken, fried egg, chips and pickled cucumber. I can't wait to taste it. At first glance, the fried rice looks ordinary, like fried rice in restaurants in general.

After I tried it, it turned out that the taste of this fried rice was very delicious. This fried rice has the right taste, we can also feel the smokey taste from the wok pan used. Apart from that, the taste is also like the fried rice that we buy or order at Chinese restaurants. It's so delicious, I can't stop eating it.

Penne Carbonara

The next menu that I will discuss is the Italian dish that my wife ordered. He ordered Penne Carbonara for lunch at that time. According to him, several food reviewers or influencers who came to this café thought that the Italian dishes from Sarune Coffee & Eatery tasted very delicious. My wife was very interested in tasting it.

The Penne Carbonara from this restaurant also has a very interesting shape and it turns out it also tastes very delicious. Several times I have tasted Italian food from local restaurants in my city, this food also tastes very delicious to me.

Meat Lover Pizza

The last food menu that I reviewed from this restaurant is Meat Lover Pizza. I felt like I had to order pizza to eat together with my family. There are three pizza choices from this café, namely Napolitana Pizza, Hawaiian Pizza and Meat Lover Pizza. Initially, I wanted to order Napolitana Pizza because it was cheaper and seemed to have more cheese, but my sister asked for a pizza with more meat.

The pizza from this restaurant is baked in a traditional oven, and the type of pizza is Italian-style flat pizza. The taste of this pizza is also very delicious, I like the taste of the tomato sauce. I asked about the tomato sauce, apparently they make their own tomato sauce. So, this was a very enjoyable culinary experience and also filled me up.
