Family Gathering For My Mom Birthday With Indonesian Cuisine

How are you all? Have you smiled today? I hope you are well, healthy and happy. September has passed 5 days ago, and just like time easily passes, I hope you can also get through something bad and move on.

The end of the year, from September to December, is the month when our family, from my mother to my father, celebrate each year's birthday, and last September, my mother turned 62. Really, this moment is actually difficult to celebrate, because Im sadly, the older a person gets, the shorter his time in the world becomes. Isn't it?

My mother is an understanding, warm person, not only to us as a whole family, but also to other people, because she has a soft heart as a mother. I don't like asking for things and most importantly, her prayers are always with us every second of life, that's why, I feel September is always special, because my mother should get something more.

On his birthday this time, we, as usual, invited him to lunch or dinner at a restaurant, according to his choice. But, he always says 'Don't spend your money on eating at expensive restaurants' even though these family gatherings rarely happen. We took him to a special restaurant with special food too.

The Budaya Restaurant is famous for its Indonesian cuisine, a variety of menus is one of their strengths in building a food and beverage business. The Budaya Restaurant is a family restaurant and is also often used for corporate events, they have many special rooms that can be used to entertain guests.

Every time we want to eat together with our family, we always make Budaya Restaurant our choice, because its delicious taste, comfortable place, makes this restaurant always in our hearts. Especially the food is very promising in terms of taste and plating which makes us want to eat it.

As for our choice of food menu at this restaurant, we always order the same menu every time we come. Therefore, they are confident in their taste, quality and characteristics which are truly irreplaceable in the hearts of their customers.

Ordering a menu is not too much of a hassle, just call the waiter and he will be ready to stand beside you and explain what menu we will choose. A super large menu book accompanied by prices (before tax), pictures explaining the contents of the plate.

We ordered many menus, starting from beverages, main course and dessert. Examples like this;

Squid Salted Egg

Our mainstay menu is squid salted egg, with portions that can fill all our stomachs. A very large portion with an abundance of distinctive salted egg sauce, full of flavor, light texture and soft when chewed. I like stir-fried garlic that can still be tasted when I touch my tongue, because most of the menus are the same as this, the spices are lacking, and they even tend to be salty when eaten, not because of the salted egg but from ordinary salt.

Honestly, the squid salted egg here is the most delicious of all the restaurants that provide the same menu. Perfect maturity of squid makes it easier for my teeth to chew, because frying squid is a little tricky.

Pandan Fried Chicken

My favorite menu this time, pandan fried chicken, where the spices for this fried chicken come from pandan leaves, coriander and a little curry leaves. Do you know what it feels like? Amazing! Especially if your taste buds really have a strong taste, and are often exposed to strong spices, I can guarantee that you will like this menu.

Fried very dry and also sprinkled with super fragrant fried onions, making this pandan fried chicken really everyone's choice. The chicken is also juicy, soft and feels very crispy on the edges of the chicken.

Mixed vegetables with the peanut sauce

These are the vegetables that my wife chose, because she is on a diet and cannot eat too many carbohydrates, considering that her diabetes is being maintained and that doesn't allow her to eat many of the menus here. Just choose gado-gado which turns out to have a large portion too.

Gado-gado is a menu that is similar to a salad, we call it Indonesian salad because it is authentic Indonesian cuisine. Consisting of lettuce, cucumber, tempeh, fried tofu and egg, then drizzled with abundant peanut sauce. Who can't resist this menu!

Capcay and Butter Fried Shrimp

Capcay is also one of our favorite menus as a complement to fiber, lots of capcay filling and quite large portions, capcay as a sharing menu for us as a family. By the way, the capcay in Budaya Restaurant is plant based, using mushrooms as the main flavoring and it is really very delicious.

Butter fried prawns are no less interesting, being Chayra's favorite food and we ordered this especially for her. The large size of the shrimp with a salty, sweet and spicy taste is a good choice for Chayra. I also like the taste of sautéed onions which still feel very crunchy when I bite into them.

Orange Coconut Ice and Avocado Ice Cream

This is the closing menu that comes at the end of our session after the main course. My father ordered Orange Coconut Ice which was so fresh when the weather was sunny today. I tasted a little of the squeezed orange and coconut in the glass, according to the price, this orange Coconut Ice is really high quality.

Avocado ice cream is no less interesting, even though the acovado looks very small and is under the ice cream and sprinkle meises, this sweet but not too sweet vanilla ice cream is very suitable as a dessert this afternoon. Because we were too full, we also shared this ice cream with all family members.
