Educating the girl child
The students on the assembling ground
The following is a detailed account of an outreach program organized by my Community Development Service (CDS) group. We had been planning this program for over a month and we made several sacrifices to ensure that the program was a success. As a result of my hard work, my community secondary school was chosen as the host for the program.

The program was titled "pad-a-girl" and its primary objective was to educate young girls on various aspects of personal hygiene. The program covered topics such as calculating menstrual cycles, the proper way to fix or attach pads to pants, and how to properly dispose of pads after use. We wanted to ensure that young girls had the knowledge and resources they needed to take care of themselves and their bodies during menstruation.
In addition to educating young girls, we also wanted to educate young boys on various aspects of personal hygiene. We covered topics such as wet dreams and puberty stages. We wanted to ensure that all young people had access to accurate information about their bodies and how to take care of themselves.
Our outreach program was a resounding success, and the students thoroughly enjoyed it. We were thrilled to see how engaged and enthusiastic they were about learning. As a CDS group, our primary objective is to educate the community on different subject matters, and we have been successful in doing so. We have gone to two different schools and a community market to educate men and women on the benefits of education and the need to ensure that their children receive the best education possible, regardless of the cost.
I am incredibly grateful to be a part of this CDS group, and I have six months left in my NYSC service. I am thrilled to continue working with this group and making a difference in the community.
