in one of my nightwalks i happened upon senjushin bridge (千住新橋), a bridge which spans across the arakawa river. i remembered walking on this bridge in one of my nightwalks, but tonight i just wanted to cross and continue walking on the river banks. apparently, there was no way to cross, until i remembered that the river banks below me were wide. it even had football fields, i could just easily walk on the lower level and cross from under the bridge. that was where i saw the dramatic shadow it made.

the shadow looked like some train tracks in the middle of the highway leading to a mystical far away place. or a ladder with some rungs gone leading to the river. confused of how this shadow was even casted, i looked up and saw the small gap between the bridge. i originally thought that this was one solid bridge, i failed to notice that from above.

from above it just looked like one whole bridge, no way to cross over but still looked like one solid bridge. so i checked a bit on it's history and saw a bit in wikipedia.

originally, a single bridge was built and opened to the public on 1924. built on the river banks, some parts gradually sank causing the bridge to be wavy at some sections. this was also caused by the growing number of traffic using the bridge. with the rapid deterioration and increased traffic, this urged the government to build a new bridge right beside the old one and was opened in 1978. the old bridge was then removed and a second bridge was built in its place, and opened in 1981. thus, two bridges having two lanes each with a foot path on the outer side.

i proceeded with my walk and just a little further i saw this group of people on the upper banks. it was a gathering of sorts, my imagination told me that they were participants of squid game. since i'm not really that eager to earn some money, i left them and went my way.

as always, AMPING KANUNAY!
