QC Community Contest -#131: Giving Up- Not An Option
To me this is not just a question but encouragement in disguise and something to reflect on in my everyday life to keep me encouraged and motivated. Because at some point most people are tempted to give up even against their wish or desire.
Greetings great minds. How are you? I'm doing pretty good, and I hope you are too. Welcome to a brand new day filled with love, peace and happiness. Welcome to my blog.🌹
What does giving up mean to you?
I will say “giving up” means; to quit trying, or to fail to continue after one or several attempts. It could also mean lacking the interest to continue keeping head above waters which may be as a result of discouragement from within or lack of support from people around us.
Have you ever given up in your life?
I once registered in a particular digital skill (email marketing) online. I saw the ad on Instagram it was captivating. After the free webinar on how it works I paid for the full course. The convener gave a lot of promises on how he would assist me and other trainees to become pro and start earning via rendering services to clients. He gave us the PDF to the course. While going through those courses he wasn't available to answer our questions. Several attempts to get him on call proved abortive, even messages dropped were never read. I went through those courses but needed clarifications in some area but couldn't get any, I became frustrated and gave up. Though I regreted it because I should have pushed harder by trying other means. Have I ever given up in my life? The answer is ‘Yes, I have “!
Is it true that people give up when success is very close?
The truth is that sometimes people give up when success is very close. A friend of mine had been jobless for over two years hunting for countless jobs without success. A family friend of hers referred her to apply for a customer care job which she did. She was invited for an interview by 8 am, she got there twenty minutes before the time and waited for 3 hours 35 minutes but was not called in for the interview. She got discouraged and left. In less than 20 minutes she left, she was invited to come in for the interview but was not there. Unknowing to her the delay was part of the interview to test her patience but she left almost when it was time to complete the final part of the interview. People do really quit when success is very close.
How do you know when to give up or when to keep trying?
I think the right time to give up is after trying every available options without success and when it's crystal clear that the feat one is engaged in is not worth the effort, in such scenerior one has to quit. On the other hand, the right time to keep trying is when one is convinced beyond every reasonable doubts that the course one is pursuing is a laudable one, and Irrespective of any challenges faced one should keep trying and pushing harder. After all “no good thing comes easy”.
Conclusion
To give up is to chicken out at the verge of breakthrough. In most cases people give up unknown to them almost when success is around the corner. Tenacity and perseverance are greatly required when one is tempted to throw in the towel, because those who persevere to the end reap great reward.
As always, thanks immensely for your support. I appreciate it.🙏🤗💚
Giving up in some situations can be a positive thing, an example of this would be a toxic job.
Sure! I quite agree with you.

Thanks
That's an interesting way. Like, I know it means exactly the same, but somehow it sounds different, like it has more weight.
This is a good point, and maybe they will never know that it was so close.
