The Green Fairy's Enchanting Ritual
The Green Fairy's Enchanting Ritual: Unveiling the Absinthe Experience at Section 30
Hey Drinking friends,
Nestled in the heart of the city, Section 30 has become one of my favorite haunts, a place where I find myself drawn to time and time again. If you've been following my previous posts, you'll know that I often wax poetic about this enchanting establishment. Today, I want to shine a spotlight on one of their most intriguing offerings: the Green Fairy shot, or as it's more commonly known, a shot of absinthe.
The absinthe ritual at Section 30 is a spectacle in itself, a mesmerizing dance of elements that captivates patrons and ignites their curiosity. It all begins with a delicate crystal cup, into which a shot of absinthe is carefully poured. Atop the cup, a slotted spoon is placed, its perforations cradling a single cube of sugar.
As if by magic, a towering glass vessel appears, filled to the brim with water and ice. The bartender, with the precision of an alchemist, brings the shot to the table, ready to unleash the Green Fairy's enchantment. In a fluid motion, the absinthe is poured over the sugar cube, its emerald hue glistening in the dim light of the bar.
But the real sorcery begins when the sugar cube is set ablaze, its blue flames dancing and flickering as it melts into the absinthe below. The bartender, with a steady hand, trickles a stream of water over the burning sugar, taming the fire and creating a cloudy, opalescent mixture that swirls hypnotically in the glass.
As the ritual reaches its crescendo, the patron is invited to take the shot, to experience the Green Fairy's embrace. The question of whether this particular absinthe contains wormwood, the infamous ingredient rumored to cause hallucinations, remains a mystery. But one thing is certain: the absinthe at Section 30 is a potent elixir, not for the faint of heart.
Watching the absinthe ritual unfold is an experience in itself, a moment of theater that draws gasps and wide-eyed wonder from those who witness it for the first time. The anticipation builds as the sugar cube ignites, the water trickles, and the emerald liquid transforms before their eyes.
Have you, dear reader, ever dared to dance with the Green Fairy? Have you braved the absinthe ritual and lived to tell the tale? I'd love to hear your stories and experiences in the comments below.

Are you from the Czech Republic? It's the only place I know where pure absinthe is allowed. It's not pure in our country, so I can't accurately describe my experiences. I tried it, but it didn't have any effect 🤔
They say you have to take 4 -6 shots to feel it.. but I am not sure.. the wormwood is the key part of the mix.
