**Hierapolis: City of the Saints
Hierapolis was a Roman city founded in the 2nd century B.C. one of the most known and preferred cities by the Romans and became an important religious and cultural center in the region during the Ottoman Empire. The name of the city comes from the Greek “Hierapolis”, which means “city of the saints” as it has many holy or healing places that they believed was of the saints to heal their ailments in the body by the pools of hot springs that I talked about yesterday in a post . According to legend and believers from generation to generation, the city was founded by the god Apollo of Greek mythology god of my, and indeed, the city was under the protection of the god of music and poetry for thousands of years and still continues with these activities today.

**The Temple of Apollo
The Temple of Apollo is one of the most impressive monuments of Hierapolis. The temple was built in the 2nd century A.D. and in 1998 it was declared a World Heritage Site by unesco. It was one of the most important cult centers of the city for its stores and markets created for the sale of silk of life. The temple was dedicated to the god Apollo and was characterized by its impressive architecture that is still standing today and retains its origins and beliefs of Greek mythology as its walls and statues of pure marble, with columns and a central altar and marble statues. Although the temple has undergone excavations and restorations over the years, it still retains its high historical value, and you can still see the ruins of what was one of the most important structures of the city in its time, it is still a major attraction for tourists.

The Plutonium Grotto** **Plutonium Grotto
The Plutonium Grotto is one of the most unique attractions of Hierapolis. It is a natural cave located under the temple of Apollo that still emanates toxic gases that at the time was believed to be the grotto of the devil as the Romans approached it and failed on the way because of the toxic gases emanating from it. The grotto was used as a place of worship for believers of the religion of Mithra by releasing these gases until it was closed in its entirety for the protection of many who were dying in it, a Persian god who was believed to be the equivalent of the god Apollo for many Persians who worshipped him. The grotto is an impressive place since its ruins are already from afar for tourists, I at least do not pass or near me not valla to hit me those gases and no longer tell more
