Gvantsa A Party for the Cinema
On Saturday April 5th, the guys from Barquicinema held a fundraising event to raise funds to complete the post production process of the film Gvantsa.
El sábado 5 de abril, los chicos de Barquicinema celebraron un acto para recaudar fondos con los que completar el proceso de postproducción de la película Gvantsa.
The parking lot of the Museum of Barquisimeto was the space chosen to celebrate the activity whose purpose was to raise funds to finalize the color and sound of the film Gvantsa. The invitation was for all the public of the city who wanted to contribute their grain of sand to support the project.
The collaboration was very economical, one dollar was the symbolic cost so that everyone could be part of those who would give the last push to finish the film. Beer, snacks and soup were sold at reasonable prices, all to raise the money needed.
El estacionamiento del Museo de Barquisimeto fue el espacio escogido para celebrar la actividad cuyo propósito era recaudar fondos para finalizar el color y sonido de la película Gvantsa. La invitación fue para todo el público de la ciudad que quisiera aportar su granito de arena para apoyar el proyecto.
La colaboración fue muy económica, un dólar fue el costo simbólico para que todos pudieran ser parte de los que darían el último empujón para terminar la película. Hubo venta de cerveza, aperitivos y una sopa a precios razonables, todo ello para recaudar el dinero necesario.
The Barquisimeto Museum is being remodeled, its main entrance is closed and everything is being done in the back area, where the parking lot is located.
The event started at 12 noon. Those first hours there was not much attendance, due to the sun being quite strong, but as it got later, more people started to arrive.
Barquicinema invited several well-known graffiti artists, who made an exhibition of their art on one of the walls, elaborating a graffiti mural with the motif of the movie.
El Museo de Barquisimeto se encuentra en remodelación, su entrada principal está cerrada y todo se está haciendo en el área posterior, donde se encuentra el estacionamiento.
El evento comenzó a las 12 del mediodía. Esas primeras horas no hubo mucha asistencia, debido a que el sol es bastante fuerte, pero a medida que se hizo tarde, comenzó a llegar más gente.
Barquicinema invitó a varios graffiteros conocidos que en una de las paredes hicieron una exhibición de su arte, elaborando un mural de graffiti con el motivo de la película.
The brands Urbline, which manufactures and sells clothing, as well as the company NetPlus were some of the brands that supported the activity and made an appearance. Other accessory stands also had their products available for those who wanted to buy.
Las marcas Urbline, que fabrica y vende ropa, así como la empresa NetPlus fueron algunas de las marcas que apoyaron la actividad e hicieron acto de presencia. También otros stands de accesorios tenían sus productos a disposición de quienes quisieran comprar.
Actress María Laura Contreras stars in the film. She plays the Georgian dancer Gvantsa, whose tragic fate had a great impact on the city. I was able to have a brief conversation with her and she told me that she is very excited about the release of the film, which will take place later this year.
La actriz María Laura Contreras protagoniza la película. Interpreta a la bailarina georgiana Gvantsa, cuyo trágico destino causó gran impacto en la ciudad. Pude mantener una breve conversación con ella y me expresó que está muy ilusionada con el estreno de la película, que tendrá lugar a finales de este año.
I also met and talked with the actor Cristofer Reinoso, better known as Crissmake, who is dedicated to the world of music, specifically the Trap genre. He would also sing some songs at the event. I was able to ask him about his process of research and construction of his character El Ninro, the criminal who ended the life of the dancer.
También conocí y conversé con el actor Cristofer Reinoso, más conocido como Crissmake, quien se dedica al mundo de la música, específicamente al género Trap. También cantaría algunas canciones en el evento. Pude preguntarle sobre su proceso de investigación y construcción de su personaje El Ninro, el criminal que acabó con la vida de la bailarina.
Composer and singer Rosa Esber was present at the event and delighted the audience with her beautiful melodies. This talented young woman is already well known and is carving out an excellent musical career for herself; I was able to talk to her quickly and she is working on her musical projects. The singer participated as an actress in the film and sang a Georgian folk song in it.
La compositora y cantante Rosa Esber estuvo presente en el acto y deleitó al público con sus bellas melodías. Esta joven de talento es ya muy conocida y se está labrando una excelente carrera musical; pude hablar con ella rápidamente y está trabajando en sus proyectos musicales. La cantante participó como actriz en la película y cantó en ella una canción popular georgiana.
Music was the protagonist of the event. Several artists were invited. Yeumar León, singer and actress, gave an excellent performance. Natalia Resta also gave rhythm to the afternoon. The Kill Beat Dance Group, well known in the region, showed their great choreographies. The theater group Circo Paranoia presented a very creative performance. Other artists whose names I could not memorize.
La música fue la protagonista del acto. Se invitó a varios artistas. Yeumar León, cantante y actriz, ofreció una excelente actuación. Natalia Resta también puso ritmo a la tarde. El Kill Beat Dance Group, muy conocido en la región, mostró sus estupendas coreografías. El grupo de teatro Circo Paranoia presentó una actuación muy creativa. Otros artistas cuyos nombres no pude memorizar.
Edsel Sierralta, the film's director, plans to release the film later this year. It's been about five years in the making, and they started shooting at the beginning of the pandemic. Making films with few resources is very difficult, but thanks to the support he has received from the public, he will achieve his dream. He already has agreements with some production and distribution companies in other countries.
I can't wait to see this film. I remember the case of the dancer because of the repercussions it had. I have a short story I wrote a few years ago inspired by that unfortunate event.
Next May, Barquicinema will present its students' short films. I hope to be able to attend.
Edsel Sierralta, director de la película, tiene previsto estrenarla a finales de este año. Han sido unos cinco años de trabajo, y empezaron a rodar al principio de la pandemia. Hacer películas con pocos recursos es muy difícil, pero gracias al apoyo que ha recibido del público, logrará su sueño. Ya tiene acuerdos con algunas productoras y distribuidoras de otros países.
Estoy impaciente por ver esta película. Recuerdo el caso de la bailarina por la repercusión que tuvo. Tengo un relato corto que escribí hace unos años inspirado en aquel desgraciado suceso.
El próximo mes de mayo, Barquicinema presentará los cortometrajes de sus alumnos. Espero poder asistir.

Que gran idea realizar este tipo de evento para poder ayudar a que una película se pueda terminar y estrenar. Que linda la colaboración de la gente. Lo que más me gusto fueron los murales o grafitis, mucho color!
Además pudiste hablar con los actores y hubo música... creo faltó café esta vez, verdad? Si mucho café jaja

Falto cafe, no había nadie vendiendo cafe. jajaja hicieron un graffiti con motivo del film y de la bailarina. Si, pudo conocer a dos de los acores principales.

What a vibrant and heartfelt initiative! It’s inspiring to see an entire community come together to support the arts. The murals, music, and open spirit of the event really show the passion behind Gvantsa.
