LOH 138: Roles and responsibilities of a father
Man is the first human being created in this world. A woman is given to be his wife and they are blessed with a child/children. Having a child, this makes a man, a father.
My father became a father when I was born because I am the eldest. From that day until at the end of his days he showed us what a father should be. He supposed to celebrate his 64th birthday yesterday but unfortunately he was just given 62 years in this world. I miss my father, we miss him. Looking at his pictures brings me the happy memories while he is still alive and the heartaches when he is gone. But despite everything, the lessons he gave, the characters he showed as a father still remains.
In response to the Ladies of Hive Community Contest 138 and questions by @thekittygirl, I will give four roles and responsibilities of a father based on what I have observed from my father during the previous generation, from my husband in this modern societies as well as my observation around.
Provider
When I was still young, a father is a provider of the family while the mother is the one to take care the house and the children. He plant, he harvest, he works to earn an income and will provide the needs of the family. He will do everything not to leave his family with hungry stomach.
Nowadays, father is not just the provider. There are many husband and wives who work together to provide the needs of the family. I even knew father who are at home taking care for the kids while the mother works and provide the needs of the family.
Father should not only provide the basic needs but as well as the emotional needs of the family. A father should give quality time for his family.
Protector
My father is always the last person to go to bed. He always assure that everything is close, the gate was locked, the door was locked, the windows was closed securing everything to protect the family.
On this modern society, father should be a protector of his family not just in terms of protecting them physically but above all mentally and emotionally.
A father should protect his family at public and will correct them in private. There are circumstances that the children commit mistakes, never shout or reprimand them in public because by doing so, you're not protecting their emotional aspects. This will lower their self esteem. Instead, bring them home, talk to them and let them know their mistakes.
Leader
A father should be a leader. He is the one to lead the family into a family with unity, a family with cooperation and a family with love.
A father should lead his family to the Lord, leading them to a life with God. He should lead how to pray, how to worship God and how to be a good person.
He is the first person to work for the plan of the family and the kids will just follow.
A father is also a teacher. Though mother is the first teacher of the children but father should also work hand in hand for teaching the children.
Good Influencer
A father is a great influencer for the children. Evey child always look up to the father. He became their example, a model to follow.
My father is a giver and we want to be like him. My husband and I had a natural loud voice and so our son.
A father should be prayerful to make his children prayerful too. He should do good things and always think that everything he do is always right in the eyes of his children.
A father should be grateful for what we have and show happiness even in simple things so his children would possibly portray the same attitude.
Nowadays, the roles of the father can be the roles of the mother too and vice versa. There are father in name but not in action and responsibilities. There also not a father, but acting like a father to many.
Whoever you are who stands as a father to someone, may God bless you always as you provide, protect, lead and influence someone's life.
To all children, love and cherish your father while they are still alive because life is short and we never know what tomorrow brings.

I see that you are so lucky with your father jen. And he is lucky to have a very good daughter like you. He got it all to be a good father..
We are poor but it doesn't make him a bad father. He is still a good father and good model for us.

Okay lang Yan sis, you are still blessed to have aunt ba to who is always helping and supporting you. God will always provide people to be with us in our journey. Keep the faith and laban lang.
To know and understand this much of the roles of a father, you sure have had very good examples on your life. God bless your father's soul and your husband. I can imagine what beautiful parenthood your son will have.
Fatherhood indeed isn't just be birthing children, but by providing for his family in these categories you have mentioned.

Yes indeed I have, we have a wonderful father. Just so sad he left so soon without even witnessing the success of the children he raised.

Wala jud toy bisyo sis pero nagkasakit pud sa subra kakugihan. Gamay pa sya nagwork na to help his mother Kay bisyuso daw kaayo tong among Lolo.
You said them all sis...although, some of those aren't quality of my dad, I am still grateful for bringing me into this world and let experience what I have now . He's still my father despite the shortcomings
