WE 172: Thee relevant points of wisdom
Wisdom is one of the most important qualities that a person should have. It is learned through out time through experiences, knowledge, good judgement and being wise.
One day, I was invited by a churchmate who is a values teacher to share three relevant points of wisdom in her grade five pupils as part of their subject. I am hesitant to accept the invitation because I am not a teacher and I am not that confident to speak in front of people but I can just talk to kids and even teens like my younger siblings.
I accepted the invitation and I went to school the next morning.
Good morning class, the teacher greeted her students and introduced me to be their lecturer this morning.
Good morning everyone, I greeted them with a smile. They said good morning teacher. Oh, I am not a teacher but I am your lecturer this morning. You can simply call me Ate Jen, (ate means older sister.)
When I stand in front of them, it seems that their is a big gap between me and them so I decided to let them arrange their chairs and form a circle and I just sit with them.
By doing this I can feel that I am more close to them and I can look at their eyes straight and could make the lecture more effective.
Is everyone ready to listen? Yes ate, they said in chorus. Having this introduction I am more confident to speak to them.
This morning, I will share to you The three relevant points of wisdom.
Be grateful
Before you will know how to be grateful for everything, you should know first who is the source or giver of everything? Do you who is the source of everything you have right now?
Yes, our Creator, our Almighty God is the source of everything. He is the giver of life, He gave us air to breath, sunshine and rain to let human, animals and plants grow.
Aside from these, can you name anything that gives you a reason to be grateful? Okay get 1/4 sheet of paper and list anything you can think. I will give you one minute to write it down.
Finished? Not yet ate, okay I will give you another two minutes.
Three minutes and yet they're not finished writing those things they are grateful for.
Okay, stop writing and listen. See? You have a lot of things to be grateful for.
If you are grateful even in simplest things, you will feel satisfied and contented. You will be happy and you don't need to compare yourself to others because you are unique and everyone received blessings.
A lyrics on a song said, Count your blessings and name them one by one. By doing so, you will know how blessed you are and you will learn to be grateful.
Be a channel of blessings
How to be a channel of blessings? I asked.
Share your blessing, one student said. Yes you're right. Any answer? They are quiet and thinking.
Sharing our blessing is one of the many ways we can be a blessing to others. Yes you can share some food to those who don't have and you can give pre loved clothes to less fortunate people. Those are things you can share.
You can be a blessing too when you do good to your classmates, to your teacher and to other people. A student who never bully her or his classmates is a channel of blessing to someone.
A classmate who help his or her classmate understand more about the lesson is also a channel of blessings.
Above all, someone who prays for other people is a channel of blessings to those people he prayed for.
Be respectful
You are all in Generation Alpha who grows with technologies, you are more independent and self directed but please be respectful. Be respectful to your God, to your parents, to your teacher and to other people.
Learn to obey your parents because all they want is all for your good. I remember a Bible verse that says:
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. Exodus 20:12 - King James version.
This is a command with a promise. Being obedient is also connected to respect. Respect is something you do in regards with someone's feelings, rights and wishes.
Respect yourself and respect others. Respect someone's right, respect someone's uniqueness and respect someone's feelings.
Those are the three relevant points of wisdom that I could share to you. May you grow having that wisdom.
Before we end let me share this Bible text:
Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. - Proverbs 3:13-14 NIV version.
Good bye students and thank you so much for listening. I hope you learn something today.
This is my participation for sir @galenkp Weekend engagement topic 172.
Thanks for reading.
Hey there!
Public Speaking is not for everyone, but they say a great way to gain confidence is to imagine your audience all naked and you being the only one with clothes on, laughing at them. I'm not sure it applies when speaking to kids, but you seem to have done a great job, and it helped that you were at a level where you could speak to them eye-to-eye.
Happy Sunday:)
Lol, if I will use that strategy might be I will smile or laugh imagining them being unclothed hehehe.
One strategy I used too is to think that I am just talking to a friend or a sibling so I will be comfortable.
A lecture also said that look someone who is listening and don't look to those who seems sleepy and not listening.
Thanks for reading my post @millycf1976.
Oh yes, three wonderful wisdom, it's good that while they are still kid, they already know how to be grateful even with the smallest thing in life or be a blessing to anyone, by sharing and tye respect, we all need ro know about this. Even some adult now forget how to be respectful.
Yes sis millennials, generation z and now generation alpha almost forget how to respect other people.
And that's the sad thing talaga. Wala na, iba na talaga generation ngayon ee.

With your publication I remembered even more what happened to me when I also gave that talk at the rural school 🤩 I certainly felt the same way. Public speaking does not come easy to me. I remember during that whole time my heart was pounding all the time 🙈.
The lessons you chose are very beautiful and meaningful 💟
Being a speaker or lecturer at the school in this post is just a product of my imagination just to present the topic. But the pounding of heart, the sweat, the nervousness is really true when talking to the public.
Thanks for your visit @purpleglitter.
Wow! 🤩 that makes it an even better post! Kudos to you for that, my friend 💟
