My mother my pride || LOH #184

your papa! said Yakubu to me then I just sighed and was going. Then he added, your mama!! immediately, I turned and gave him a very hot punch and said to him, you can insult me or anything around me but never my mother. This is how I actually grew up being very obsessed about my mother.

Pondering about those acts as a grown up, some time I am tempted to conclude that I was a biased child in that I could allow someone to insult my father but not my mother. Well, may be I was but then I thought otherwise, its the fruit of the quality of my mother in my life which should actually be appreciated and if that was a way to show it then I would do it even now.

Behold the Lady with her grandchild

I am lucky to have grown up having my mother and father by my side together with my siblings and I am grateful to God for that. Its a thing of joy for me indeed. My father was actually a responsible man to his best of capacity but I didn't see it to be enough. He was faithful to providing the money for food and of course school fees and all of that, but we never had a relationship with him.

He was more like a stranger to us who lives far away eventhough he lived right in the house with us. I was really afraid of my father such that before he tells me to do a thing, I would be running to get it done. My mother on the other hand was the opposite. She is an angel.

We could eat her if she gave us herself, hehe. Her availability to us was without limit. Not the case that she did not discipline us when we did wrong but the mode of discipline was just so lovely such that we would prefer she disciplines us than our father to do so.

I remember my mother having a special name for everyone of us in the house. Then mine was Ogosco international, this name was formed from my native name which is Ogonna. Each time she calls that name I would respond, Yes, Momisco and run to her. It was a lovely relationship and today I can't do without hearing from her everyday as I am now far from home.

One attribute of my mother which I admired so much was that affection for the feeling of another person and which is not just towards her children but towards every person around her. I remember on many ocaion that she would see children or people hawking some items along the road and eventhough she is not in need of that product at that time, she would buy because she feels the person has not sold for the day.

Sometimes those days we frowned at her for doing that because some time those things get spoilt at home without using them. But her heart will not just allow her to see those persons under the sun and let them go like that. Well, thanks to God that there was always money to attend to our basice needs.

Another mother like my mother

I see this quality among many mothers and I admire it a lot and always look up to them to build my emotional life. I love that attitude of mothers to feel the pains of others and make them theirs. I commend them for the goods they do in the society and at home and encourage them to keep up the good work.

I am already missing my mother, hehe but I have three years here before I go back home and everday is seeming like a thousand years in my eyes, hehe. Indeed mothers are great and my mother in particular, is an angel. She is my pride and I hope I will be able to always put smiles on her face.

This is a post for the Ladies of Hive contest for #184 edition. thanks for reading

Let me begin by calling you Ogosco International, lol. Mothers are special and you have shared your mum's story with us. The part that surprised me was how she would purchase the things that were not necessary just to patronise the children hawking, wow! That's amazing. But I wish those things were not left to spoil, you know.

All the same, your mum is truly an Angel and just as you said, may you be able to always bring smiles to her face and make her proud. 🙏 Well done.
