A Glimpse into Hell, Clive Barker's Jericho

This game, a true gem that has stood the test of time, took me on a nostalgic journey. This time, I decided to enjoy it in all its graphical glory, taking advantage of a better setup that allows me to play with high settings. Years ago, when my computer wasn’t as powerful, I could only experience this world in low quality. Now, although adult responsibilities don’t leave much time for leisure, I managed to dedicate a few hours to immerse myself once again in its unique atmosphere.

I’ve always been fascinated by Clive Barker's Jericho because of its settings. As a child, I was amazed by the intricate details and the unique blend of beauty, eeriness, and horror. Its atmosphere is unforgettable: bloody, yes, but with a kind of beauty that thrives in the macabre. Through its missions, we travel to different time periods, each with its own dark charm, like fragments of hell scattered throughout history. I won’t go into too much detail to avoid spoiling the experience for those who haven’t played it yet (and really, you should).

Taking screenshots was a challenge since the weapon’s reticle is always visible, and there’s no option to disable it in the user interface. I spent a lot of time searching for that option, but it simply doesn’t exist.

At first, the experience felt easier because I had played the game years ago. However, I realized I was on normal difficulty, so I decided to crank it up to extreme. From that point on, the game became incredibly challenging, even for someone like me who had completed it several times before. The final bosses, in particular, were so frustrating that I couldn’t finish the game this time around.

Despite everything, it remains an entertaining game. While I no longer have the same skill level or time to dedicate to it, I still remember the adrenaline rush I felt with every moment when I was more practiced.

Here, I’m sharing some screenshots of various levels that, in my opinion, deserve to be admired for their aesthetic composition, detail, and beauty. Seriously, just enjoy it! It’s a visually stunning masterpiece, even after all these years. I hope you appreciate them as much as I do!

This is my first contribution to the video game photography community. I am participating in the Weekly Game Photography Contest with the theme: Stunning Landscapes.
