Budget and charity | LOH #169 contest week
Greetings ladies, today's edition seems to me to be quite important because it talks about our organization and where our money goes. Are we being responsible people?
Saludos ladies, la edición de hoy me parece que es bastante importante porque habla de nuestra organización y de a dónde se va nuestro dinero, ¿Estamos siendo personas responsables?
I annually work on my home budget every January and my recent walk through a major shopping center reminds me how our financial goals can get undermined by the temptation to spend. What are your strategies and tactics to stay on track?
Like @kerrislravenhill I also work on my budget in January and set goals for what I want to achieve in the rest of the year and put time into it.
My tactics really aren't anything out of this world:
I always keep a list this includes the things I really need in the span of a month.
At the end of each month I always reserve money that is to be used for things that may arise from one moment to the next (that are important to me)
In my bank account I have categories that help me manage my money: Main expenses, rent, services, savings, others.
I allow myself to have some expenses that are not so important but perhaps a little necessary, such as some recreational outings or buying some makeup, that way I don't feel trapped or frustrated by money.
Cada año en enero trabajo en el presupuesto de mi hogar y en mi reciente paseo por un importante centro comercial me recuerda cómo nuestras metas financieras pueden verse socavadas por la tentación de gastar. ¿Cuáles son tus estrategias y tácticas para mantener el rumbo?
Al igual que @kerrislravenhill yo también trabajo en mi presupuesto en enero y me fijo metas sobre lo que deseo alcanzar en el resto del año y le pongo tiempo.
Mis tácticas realmente no son cosa del otro planeta:
Siempre mantengo una lista esto incluye las cosas que realmente necesito en el lapso de un mes.
Al final de cada mes siempre reservo dinero que es para usarse en cosas que puedan surgir de un momento a otro (que sean importantes para mi)
En mi cuenta del banco tengo categorías que me ayudan a administrar mi dinero: Gastos principal, renta, servicios, ahorros, otros.
Me permito tener algunos gastos no tan importantes pero quizás un poco necesarios como algunas salidas recreativas o comprarme algún maquillaje, de esa forma no me siento atrapada o frustrada por el dinero.
Charitable giving is a normal part of my budget. It is not always cash donations but it can be other resources like your time and talents as well. Name your favorite Charity and what makes it special to you?
I don't really play favorites with charities but I'm constantly helping wherever I can. At first I started donating clothes when I was little, my mom taught me this. Then I joined a foundation here in Peru and this was with money that was intended for the elderly and also for street animals. I also had the opportunity to go to some animal shelters and help a little (I did make a post about this). and currently I have prepared a bag of clothes that I used to wear but are in excellent condition to donate to a church and they are in charge of getting them to people who really need them, I really can't be so selfish and throw my clothes in the trash generating more problems to the environment when I know perfectly well that it can have a second life and there are people who really need it. Furthermore, at some point I was also one of these people and it is something that I will never be able to forget.
Las donaciones caritativas son una parte normal de mi presupuesto. No siempre se trata de donaciones en efectivo, pero también pueden ser otros recursos como tu tiempo y talento. Nombra tu organización benéfica favorita y ¿qué la hace especial para ti?
Realmente no tengo favoritismo en las caridades pero constantemente estoy ayudando en dónde sea que puedo. Al principio empecé donando ropa cuando era pequeña, mi mamá me enseñó esto. Luego pasé a una fundación aquí en Perú y esto fue con dinero que era destinado a ancianos y también a los animales de la calle, también tuve la oportunidad de ir a algunas albergues de animales y ayudar un poco (sobre esto sí hice un post) y actualmente tengo preparada una bolsa de ropa que solía usar pero está en excelente estado para donarla a una iglesia y ellos se encargan de hacerla llegar a personas que realmente la necesitan, realmente no puedo ser tan egoísta y tirar mi ropa a la basura generando más problemas al ambiente cuando sé perfectamente que puede tener una segunda vida y hay personas que de verdad la necesitan. Además en algún momento yo también fui una de estas personas y es algo que jamás podré olvidar.
Definitivamente querida siempre habrán personas que necesitaran esas ropas que muchas veces ya no usamos por diversos motivos, todo lo que podamos hacer por las personas y los animalitos nunca será en vano!
Lo sé, de pequeña mi familia tuvo momentos de dificultades y hubieron personas de buen corazón que nos ayudaron, nunca podré olvidar eso y es por el mismo motivo que siempre que pueda ayudar lo haré para honrar esas personas que nos brindaron su apoyo cuando más lo necesitamos

It's hard to budget when we have no self-discipline and are too extravagant in spending....money always ends up being spent in a short period, lol. .
We donate old clothes here in Hong Kong too.. Those go to orphanages and some to homeless elderly. And each time I spotted someone begging for money, I gave if I had, even just a little... Some are doing this just to earn money since begging on the streets is legal here in HK. But you can really identify who truly needs help and not...
It makes me sad when I see people or children begging for money, I just can't!! And then is me just thinking what is wrong with this world 😭

I very much agree to set aside a sum for emergencies like having incurred damage to my home or an unexpected hospital bill and at one time help a friend pay off a large fine. Also, we need to treat ourselves on occasion. I do that when my Emergency fund exceeds a predetermined target balance.
On another note, I found out that a certain well known fashion chain dumps their unsold stock in the garbage rather than donated to any Charitable organizations because they didn't want to see their designs on poor people. Terrible, go figure.

Oh I knew about that, the fashion chain. It is terrible, why is so hard being good people helping others?? Sometimes I don't understand this world and I feel like we are just parasite in this earth
I am a student right now but I am saving my Allowance to save up and I alocate its 20% to charity foundation or in our church. Its good to see the people are getting up from its downess in life. Thanks and continue sharing always🤗
I used to go to church when I lived in Venezuela, remember it was 10% of my salary for charity foundation aa well

Oh how nice. I do clothe donations too, and I pay extra attention to the condition of the clothing. They have to be something I could still totally rock.
I also partition out my savings account like yours, except there's also a section for investments. I don't even use the bank; I use a reliable savings app here in Nigeria. Although, I'm not sure It's exclusive to Nigerians. Savings for rent, tuition, and other bills are always locked, and inaccessible until the maturity date I set, which again can't be less than 3months. Now I'm thinking I should make a post about it... It's interesting to talk about.
