"A Web With a View". My current mixed media art project encompasses a light version of my normal indepth projects. It's my perspective of looking out and viewing the world from the inside. Fascinating how the human eye can distinguish shapes and forms, then relay them to the brain that interprets what is seen.

The eye is a complex organ in which light is reflected into lens from the objects in the environment. When we direct our gaze or an object comes into our view, light is reflected from the object into the area called the cornea. It's like a sophisticated camera that captures the shape and form of the object and then transmits it to the pupil.

Whether the object we see is friend or foe is then determined by the brain that we train is harmful or not according to our subjective viewpoint.

At my tender age in senior citizenship, my eyesight is not what it was once. Since I have Type 2 Diabetes, each year I have a special examination to ensure that the diabetes isn't affecting my eyesight. Floaters roam through my vision from one side to the other during my entire waking hours. It's a nuisance sometimes as the small objects appear suddenly from my peripheral view. I'm startled that someone or something is harmful is approaching until I realize it's only a floater.

Below is my interpretation of what I view from where I stand the world.

First, I needed an abstract black and white background. Of course, the eye is required to reflect my view. I decided to surround my eye with a spider web. The abstract image provided this pattern, I feel. For the spider, I attempted to blend it into the background so it the appearance was obscured.
