Essence of Self | A Mixed Media Art Project

When working with shadowy figures, I like to expose two-toned effects. Doing so provides me the opportunity to see faces from different angles. What I like about this design is that I can see the female's eyes first together, then how they look with just one eye exposed. with the crimson face paint design.

My inspiration for the project was a free-sourced image I discovered. The face in white, surrounded by the dark, shadowy duplicated face on each side makes for a three-faced image. To complement the shadowed face, I then surrounded the image with an abstract image that resembles a rustic, iron piece.

I achieved the blended project by uploading the images into Canva, my design program. Starting with a blank, white canvas. I add layers of elements in accordance with my upgraded Annual Pro Membership that includes tools to remove backgrounds, resize, filter, duplicate, and reposition items as required.

Perhaps of all the tools, the ability to remove backgrounds thereby creating transparencies of the images is crucial to the blending process.

The remaining images I included in my design are listed below. Besides the female, the abstract background fit perfectly with the scene, providing an edgy and grunge feel.
